Colonization
    #21996457 - 07/25/15 05:51 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Quick question I'm not a new grower been doing it for a couple years now. My question is has anyone noticed if the Ecuador strain colonizes slowly. Right now I have two different strains going. 5 are treasure coast and 4 are Ecuador, had 5 but one got contaminated, and while the TC strain are all over 50% the Ecuadors have barely started. They are all in the same place and at the same temp, ~77 degrees. I'll post pics tomorrow. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Genetics

I had two sets of Golden Teacher plates from the same syringe. One was extremely rhizomorphic and devoured the plate and the other was content, tomentose and slow.

Both fruited well. How long has it been since germination?

It has been a little over 2 weeks since I inoculated them. I'm chalking up the overall slow germination to low temp bounces between 75-78 degrees. I used the brf cake recipe from let's grow mushrooms video. And all the substrates were from the same batch so it can't be a difference in recipe.

Those temps are fine lol, most experienced growers don't incubate and some of our houses are high 60s at best. must be a very slow colonizer or there's another problem in there.

I'd just let them run, could just be genetic.

Alright I was just curious if anyone else had the slow germination problem, because research tells me that Ecuador is supposedly a fast colonizer. Not to worried bout them all being contaminated, just baffled at the difference in colonization speed between the two strains.
