Had Photos for me. Please ID, Thanks!
    #21996444 - 07/25/15 05:48 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Had some information and photos.

Habitat:
Grows in the forest off of the sweetgum in North Georgia.

Found in late July.

Gills:
Purple then after picked turns brownish purple. Then they turn pale brown. Light brownish or dark purple if the gills are bruised.

Stem:
Pale, hallow, about 1in.

Cap:
Largest was .5in.

The cap is soft, smooth, and purple before picked. Turns brown after picked and handled.

There is a white rim. Grows by itself or with others.

These were exclusively found on the Sweetgum log, growing off, none on surrounding earth.

The white rim turns black after picking. Entire thing turns brownish black after picking/bruising.

Spore print color:
Greenish brown brownish green. Looks brown but there is some green and yellowish tintage VERY COOL.

Bruising:
Very dark color. Blackish brown.

Other information:
Smells like melon.

Photos with white background are from after picked:

Maybe something like Melanophyllum, cool looking whatever it is.'
You should tell SWIM that it does nothing by posting in this way, it definitely is not a 'get out of jail free' card or anything.
No one cares if you post pictures of mushrooms.

Any other possibilities?

It took a very, very long time to find, for SWIM to find, that is lmao.

I'm very hesitant to state it's weilii or a psilocybin because of my inexperience, but that would be awesome.

But, SWIM did search ALOT of dead sweetgum pine before finding this. SWIM prefers the type grown on trees over the kind grown in feces hahahaHAHHAAHAH (whenever its possible and possible whenever its not impossible to do so, that is.)

Sweetgum Weilii?

No blue bruising and I've never seen an active with pink or purple gills before.

It could be Callistosporium purpureomarginatum

Hey dude I saw your post in the TNF thread and I can't ID it 100% but I can tell you it isn't an active mushroom.

Watch that spot and snap some more pics if you see more growing in different stages of growth and take the time to snap some clearer pics and I'm sure someone will be able to tell you exactly what it is.

BTW Never use SWIM in this forum, it will cause you nothing but problems.

It was the most interesting find so far, for sure.

Maynard, it is so close! When I researched it, many of them look different from each other, but some of them have the white ring, although the ones like that I've seen have an indent on the cap and the stem looks a little different online.
