What have the temps been like in Maine? I imagine once it cools off and starts raining the fall fungi will start coming out.

This blog might be helpful for you.

I recommend getting a good field guide.

Ya I've read that one pretty informative. But was just looking for some actual people who have been about. People around here say they start seeing them now. So I will keep my eyes open

It all depends on what type of habitats you are hunting in.
I'm just to the west of Maine in the White Mountains of NH. Chanterelle season is finishing up, still a few winter chants around right now. Black trumpet season is at its peak in my area. I have collected a good amount of trumpets this year. American Caesars (jacksonii) and puffballs are also around right about now. Bears tooth / lions mane are still yet to come.

Happy hunting!
