They are half pint plastic containers that are pp5. I ran out of mason jars and want to use these. Will they melt? I will have them off the bottom of the pan using crushed pop cans and a layer of tin foil.
I would love to use these, 2$ for 6 is a deal. I have 2 made up and ready to go. they have a push on lid, not the screw on type. I boiled my jars with water almost touching the bottom of my mason jars. I turned the heat high until it boiled and then turned it down to simmer for 90min. I plan on doing these the same way.
I need a quick answer so I can make more up since I only have 2 all ready to go. I will make more if anyone who has tried it says its alright.
I searched and only found pressure cooking answers. Anyways, thanks!

Based on the only description you gave, which is "pp5 plastic", they probably won't melt. But they could, if any part of the plastic isn't PP5, and we certainly don't have any pictures to go on so, you're gonna have to find out on your own. If you already did some wouldn't you know, yourself?

I have not already boiled some, I had read that some people boiled molded ones. I have not read that any have been steamed for 90min. I guess that I will be the first.

PC'ing is hotter than boiling. Try it out.
This is a pp5 kids cup with a push on lid. Pressure cooked, fruited, and still in the same shape it was when I got it.

Well it's usually the lids that will give you trouble if anything does. I'd do a test batch first.

They all worked just fine except once, when the water ran dry. The bottoms melted into the tin foil. Used crushed aluminum cans instead of jar ring lids. Anyways, these sure do beat mason jars! They are 2$ for 6! The mason jars and jelly jars were around 9$
Thanks
