Forgot to post the above comment. Looked for my lighter 4 or 5 separate times and remembering it was upstairs (this could just be my pot brain. I have been smoking this entire time but that's normal). I then started to get up and walk away in the middle of me typing this. STAY FOCUSED! Logs. Right. Again I lose my train of thought. I think I'm just going to post this for now.
Edit* oh thats right! I ended up watching a the longest gif I've ever seen of the game "Snake" being beaten
Edit* I forgot to edit my edit untl just now 25 mins later.

A Magical Journey: Tarrnack Returns [Re: Tarrnack]

That's right folks! I'm back! Been locked up a for a while, but I'm back once again to regale you with tales of my magical journey. I thank the noble chronicr for my freedom.
Last time we saw our hero he was in the grips of a mental breakdown fighting a unjust war against no one...
All of what happened next is documented in this trip report thread http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22090773
The short version of which boils down to me taking a small dose, started to watch Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, broke the rules, got the thread locked, not being able to deal with these new emotions stewed for over 6 hours, snapped out of it, apologized, ate a gyro and went to bed. It was overall a positive experience.
OK cultivation.
Experiments first.
M3 1/2 in the bag produced the second wave of fruits. Some of the pins grew upside down. Weird. To be honest I did no research on tub tek before I started it...I assume that's why they have those dark liners...sigh. Oh well. Live and learn I guess (or just do some simple research before you start stuff you degenerate).

Virvitro Tek failed. The project was looking really good for a while. I started experimenting with intense direct sunlight for short amounts of time. I exposed it for too long and the cake layer shriveled and blued. I compensated by adding a little to much water to re-hydrate the chamber. The next day...Holy shit. There was a two inch layer of gray hair standing straight up! I wish I took a picture but when I first saw it I was like a Ebola scare. The most aggressive looking contam I've ever seen in my short carrier. I dump all my failed experiments and scraps in a compost pile I started a few months ago, in hope of getting some nature grade monster out of it. I call it "The Graveyard" (for fun and posterity).
Virmvitro Tek was too ahead of its time. Too much of a rebellious trailblazer. A candle that burns at both ends burn twice as bright they say.
 RIP
Moving on.
M1 and M2. They were part of the same sunlight experiment but did not meet the same fate as #6 with the Virmvitro Tek (patent pending). In fact they did pretty well.

I got the American Harvest dehydrator off of ebay a day before they were ready to pick. I found a scavanged mascara brush works great for cleaning the bits of verm and junk off the stems. I will eventualy get this amazing mushroom knife I was talking about in the pub http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22119621

Cracker dry, M1 weighs in at 3.4g and M2 at 4.5g. Making a combined weight of 7.9 grams. For whatever reason the smaller M2 produced more fruits. Remember these guys came back from death. The "M" stands for mold and the number the level of infection. There ya go kids. Another example of mold defeated. Still, its not safe to play with fire. I de-caped all the large ones, split the stalks with a knife for the dehydrator and made a few prints. One of the 3 was put on the strap of my suspenders. I have a few buttons that run down the red straps. The button sized print is a symbol representing Shroomery and a badge of pride signifying the adventures of a successful amateur mycologist. I also realized my dream of a becoming Johnny Spore Seed. I'm pretty happy about the whole thing. I still haven't gone to level 3. These are more then enough to pay for the ticket...but that's just the experiments...
#1. The savage. The legend.
I was paranoid that his own weight would cause him to detach from the cake. So I made a crutch out of a pair of crossed chopsticks and some fishing line.

It's the largest single mushroom I've grown so far. Weighing in at a whopping 22.5 grams!

Cracker dry along with the rest of the little ones weighed out to 3.6 grams.
I gathered everything in a jar and all together the grand total weighs out to 11.3 grams!

There now jarred and stored away for Shroomfest in 6 days. I placed a small beef jerky gel pack I scavenged from a bag of Lawless Jerky inside.
See that folks? That's satisfaction I hold in my hand.

So whats next? Shroomfest in the upcoming days will mark the end of this magical journey. I'm pretty excited for it...and a little sad at the same time. Remember its the 28th 29th and the 30th. Any day. When your tripping and having a good ol time, and I hope you will, just for a second think of me. I'll manifest myself into a ethereal cosmic spider being and drop on by for a visit in your conciseness...Probably not though... I'm a noob after all...still worth a shot.
Right now #2 lays in a unconventional lackadaisical manner. He's a hipster. Pins are forming nicely.

He came out with a uneven top so I cut a small ring off the top and put it in a jar. It was flush to the glass and pins were starting to form all over. I felt the majority would die and some were already bruising against the glass. So I popped it out and placed it next to #2. I guess I'll call him 1/6th. The crutch for #1 still stands in there.

I plan on making new FC's. They can be better. There too small as well. During the last legs of the fruiting process fruiting I had to put a clear garbage bag over the FC so the shrooms wouldn't bump there heads on the lid.
Syringe to syringe. I have come full circle in my cultivation process.
A few days ago I made up 5 more cakes in some widemouth jars and knocked them up using the syringe from M3 jar, some Cambodian and a Mazatapec that was thrown in for free.
The cycle starts again.
I cant thank you folks enough for your frindship and support in helping me get this far.

That's cool that you made a spore syringe, because I never have, but I kinda always say that if you have the skills necessary to make a clean syringe, those same skills are way better applied to just working with agar instead of ever putting spores in a syringe at all. Too many uncontrollable variables unless we're dealing with invitro spores and impeccable technique.

I want to get into agar. I need to master a few other disiplins before I do it I think. I tend to overlook things sometimes. I wanna make sure I have a real good foundation before I move on to the final frounter. The next project is probably going to be a mono tub. I want to go big. I'd like some bulk to play around with extracts and powders.

This. The sooner you just do it the quicker this phase will be over with. If you're going to mess up, you want agar, because it's more forgiving than grain or PF mix as long as you understand what to do with it. You'll still be stumbling drunk with a knife but at least it won't be in a dark room.

lol idk. I know nothing about it. I think of strep throat when I think of agar. That link looks great. Looks like I have a bit of homework to do.
Edit* I need to get a PC...

No PC? Sorry to be a scold, but what the hell are you doing, son? All this sound and fury and you aren't even taking care of the basics. You're all over the place. Step by step. Learn a tek from A to Z, then go off to the twilight zone. Not the reverse. I don't get it, I really don't.

Didn't I just say that I needed one? Even then how am I not taking care of the basics? I've pretty much done everything possible without a PC, or allot of things for that matter. I've only ever done BRF style tek. Every time I went off the rails it was out of necessity not out of lack of respect. Just above your comment I even turn down the thought of learning agar because I don't have a PC yet. There expensive and not all of us can throw down for one at the drop of a hat.
Sigh...Not that I need to explain myself but there have been unexpected expenses that have cropped up recently that wiped out my savings. I should of had one by now. So yeah. That's what I'm doing.
BTW You might as well throw out the word cunt or a racial slur because calling me "son" isnt much different. At least to me it isnt.

I really don't think that was meant to be taken that way, he was just giving you a little hazing for not having a PC. If people get offended when you call them son I might have to stop as well.
What will I say before I say "I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one"??

Not really sure how else it was meant to be taken. When you start out like "Sorry to be a scold, but what the hell are you doing son" your making your intentions quite clear. Maybe I overreacted but I really don't like it when older people condescend and shake there head at there younger piers. He hit multiple nerves. I really should of already had a PC by now. It bothers me that I cant afford one. I don't need it rubbed in my face.
Truth is I went to go edit and remove that part of my comment but now the cats out of the bag.

If you need an apology, then here is one. I meant no disrespect for your age. Where I come from, it's just a way people talk. When you get to be my age, I think you'll see things differently. I hope so. It means you have learned a lot along the way. I'll be dead, so you won't owe me a return apology. Good luck in your future endeavors.
