Invite some friends over and munch all the foliage before hedging it. By this time your friends will be energetic and you can then get them to weed your garden or do other jobs that need doing. Make a party out of it. It's better for you than alcohol, my friend.

It's like a subtle cup of coffee. But my heart races at the beginning. It's that astringent taste that gets to me.

There is no real way to save these leaves for later use is there? They degrade rather quickly, correct?

The most active constituent cathinone does degrade into cathine which is much less active pretty quickly (~7 days) so they lose most of their potency inside of a week. Refrigeration and freezing especially can help delay the conversion perserving potency. Sometimes a wine is made with Catha leaves, but I haven't seen any analyses and I suspect any activity is due to cathine and not cathinone.

Fresh leaves make my heart race. A few days ago I did like 3 quids. And my heart was pounding at the beginning. It subsided and was quite energetic.

Does anyone have any more info on the effects of Khat?
Also Ferrel I know theobroma cacao is somewhat hard to grow but I was wondering if it might be possible to grow out in climate zone 7? I'd surly bring it indoors for winter but would I ever possibly see it fruit in my climate "If I'd even be able to grow it here'?

An eBay vendor I once bought from lives in new jersey. So anything is possible. These came from Hawaii so that's the perfect climate and mine is subtropical. They are under my elm and they get with a tiny bit of sun like a jungle canopy would.

Any diagnosis on all plants? Blacks spots and holes on the cacao plants. Shriveled up novo leaves.

These are the only 2 of all the bunch that are growing good and healthy.

I know the criollo variety of theobroma cacao are susceptible to a myriad of diseases but those crinkled leaves are weird. They are all in the shade and I believe it may not be humid enough for them. The novos I have no idea what's up with the cut of their jib.
Any clues?

IDK what caused it, but I had a batch of novos go the way of those wrinkled/transparent leaves before and it proved fatal to them...
A quarantine may be in order for them to separate the healthy from diseased/infected just to be safe...

Hopefully it doesn't happen to yours though... Like I said, I have no idea what caused it... I just attributed it to the difficulty of raising a novo seedling.

It's difficult at first for sure but when they take off get ready.

No joke. Once they pass that seedling stage you can almost see them growing they go so quickly.
