Before this experience, I had acquired psilocybin mushrooms once in the past, but I only had about two grams of older shrooms, and since I was about 210 at the time, effects were minute. This time was different.
I was hanging out with my friends M and G the night before, and we were waiting for my connect to contact us, which we knew would take a while, especially since there was a powerful snowstorm occurring at the time, but once the call was made, we went out and got our fungus. I had an eighth, and M and G each had a half eighth. I weighed about 200, M about 110, G about 130. I had to go home though, so since we all didn’t have class the following day(due to extreme cold) we decided that would be the perfect opportunity to journey.
I wake up at 6am like usual, the temperature outside is about -10 fahrenheit, with stronger winds as well. I leave my house with a pill container with an eighth of shrooms, and a big cup of orange juice. I take it all as fast as possible, because exposing my face to this cold is extremely brutal and painful. But I knew this was only the start. I get up to the corner of the street, and catch my bus.
I take the bus about 7 minutes down the street, and I embark on a 40 minute walk in a thick coat, thermal gloves, thermal boots, and track pants(I know, GREAT choice.) After about 10 minutes in the cold, I could feel my hands numbing in the thermal gloves, My face is wrapped up and stinging, but Im determined to make it to G’s house for an enjoyable time. When I was halfway there, I could tell the shrooms were starting to kick in, because the cold sensations and numbing sensations dissipated instantly. I started to smile, but kept having to walk and make it there.
I knock on G’s door, and his mom answers, surprised that Im there at 8am. But she didn’t mind, she knew what we were planning. I walk in, and M sees the dilation in my eyes, and gets a huge grin and says “Hey man! How are you feeling?” and laughs. Well, G’s mom left for work, and G, M and I go into the basement, I have horrid body load, and frostbite. Every inch of me, including some personal areas, were frostbitten to the point of hellish stinging. But after 20 minutes, I felt perfectly okay.
We make some french bread pizza, and M and G load their fungi on top, and consume. M is disgusted by the taste, almost gagging. G smiles and starts eating the mushrooms one at a time proclaiming that they taste like Jamaican french fries. I have never heard anything so strange, so I start laughing unbelievably, but then again, if you knew G, this was probably one of the more normal things he has said. I start looking around the room, and there is residual movement in everything nearby.
M and G turn on their Xbox and start playing Dragon Ball Z while they wait to come up, Im watching this and things start to get very intense. I start to see changes in depth perception on the TV, and for some reason, the game becomes overwhelming, but Im still smiling, but it is a smile of anxiety/euphoria. I then look up at the ceiling( Picture below ), and everything starts moving in it, with no particular order either, it starts by moving to the left, then to the right, and the actual ridges started to collide and change.
M and G start to come up finally come up and laugh without control. We all stare at the ceiling together, and the drywall textures start to move more angrily and rapidly, and we all look together and at the same time and we claim we all saw this part together, the ceiling slowed down into slow motion almost, and then the textures were merging together into what resembled water droplets, like condensation almost, and then the droplets were starting to rain down from the ceiling. Very cool.
G took us up to his bedroom where he has a pet parakeet and cat, everything around me now was starting to have tracers, and have a slight vibrating wobble to it, as if it were like an animation from Ed, Edd, and Eddy. G let the parakeet out and it flew right at me, the tracers that the wings made were breathtaking, and when he would land, he would turn his head from side to side, and the amount of tracers made it look like he did it in slow motion. I was laughing hysterically at this point, just having a ball with them, even though the bird scared me, it looked like we were in a desert and this bird was the only other life form. This is partially due to the walls being yellow. I then decided to explore his room more, and I looked under his bed since his cat was there, and when I saw it, it had a halo of light behind it and was smiling at me. But it was a small grin, the picture below was the closest representation I could find.
We decided to go outside and go for a short walk, the sun was out and the snow was twinkling small rainbow sparkles. I loved it. Everything was so crisp and in detail. We came back in after a snowball fight, and I look at a small textured ottoman in the living room that was moving, I then focus in on the ridges, run my fingers across it, and then the ottoman rippled as if I ran my fingers through water.
The whole time, we had jello cooling in the fridge we forgot about, even though we kept yelling “JELLO” in the dumbest voices we could think of, we took it out and saw that it was a liquid appearance with a solid consistency and this mesmerized us. I even turned the bowl upside down to make sure it was ready, not the most logical idea, i know. I then scoop my hand in, and say, “hey look, Ill catch this in my mouth!” when I then proceeded to throw it up with brute force and get jello all over the kitchen. Took about 20 minutes and a billion “I’m sorry”s to clean up.
G decided to head back down into his basement to stare at his wall which was filling up with crazy aztec designs and “aging” he said. M and I continued to explore the house, and had a deep introspection about our friendship, which had been on and off for about 7 years. It was amazing to see how similar we really were. And the way we observed the shroom experience was amazing as well, we had the same exact trip, and G was still staring at the wall and zoned out. At one point while we were talking, we here G yell from the basement “THE WALL IS MELTING” in the dumbest voice I have ever heard. It was so comical.
We all started getting the waves of sobriety which seem to come at the end of a shroom trip, where one second you’re normal, the next you’re tripping again. But then the afterglow set it, and I felt like a million dollars, I kept smiling and talking about how happy I was about life and how much fun I really had. We then smoked a little weed and tobacco, which brought the experience back, and we had a great time.
It wasn’t the strongest experience because they weren’t the most potent shrooms, but then again, I was a big guy at the time, and Im sure that had a large impact on intensity, but it was wonderful. I didn’t learn much in introspect, but I finally got to see what shrooms had to offer.
