Nice looking tub there OP. They might have needed a touch more FAE but really I find AA+ get pretty damn lanky no matter how much FAE I blast at em. Cap size on the mature one tells me that overall you did damn good.
Next time you could either loosen the lower holes just a touch once the pinset is in or else if you plan to case a lot going forward, add another set of holes under the hybrid holes at sub level and stuff em real tight. That will give you buckets of FAE
At any rate I think you should be proud of this tub. Rated 5

I'm running pretty much this exact tub set up too. Thanks for the update, I might make my top holes a bit bigger!

That straw will be fine to use but it is a royal pain in the ass to cut. Each piece needs to be 1-2" in length. For me, cutting it with scissors was not an option and after almost burning up the motor in my food processor, I gave up on straw. Good luck.

I think the next Mini I do I'm going to try those hybrid holes...My other Mini-Monos I used standard Mono holes...had great results...but the hybrid might be even better.

[OP: Not hijacking your thread, my apologies, just trying to offer possible help thru my experiences ;-) all love
Recently started 4 of these 27 QT Sterilites, using Damion's 50/50 method with a little added gypsum for sub, and 1/4" holes drilled every 2" per Doc_T's instructions. Currently 2 at 7 days and 2 at 4 days colonization with each using 3 qts spawn (1 tub PE, 1 TC, 1 Ecuador, 1 Mazatapec), in loosely twisted garbage bags and they all look to be doing great (peaked 1x every 3 days and to let some CO2 out per suggestions I had read on here).
Will share pics and likely a log once fruiting. These tubs are great as long as you follow directions and (as always) pay close attention to maintain proper sterility when pasteurizing/sterilizing subs ;-)
Have tried traditional monotubs with polyfill but have not had the best luck - I blame myself for cutting corners. I definitely expect to double up on these next round and sticking to these from now on, now that I am sold.
Big thanks to all who have contributed to this thread, Doc_T, Damion5050, RR, and all our other fellow shroomerites who have contributed useful knowledge to those in need. I only wish I can help pass it on. YOU CAN DO IT!
I hope this helped someone once in my shoes.

IMO in the minis if you have the extra coir and don't have the experience, case every time.
I almost exclusively use these 27 qt monos for quick turn around and easy use. I can get away with not casing but a casing just makes it so much easier. Then when you understand dialing in a bit more you can stop casing.
