Finally going to start

After a year of ups and downs and finally getting to a good place I have decided to attempt my first grow. I will be getting: B+ syringes 1 10lb bag verm 1 10lb bag perlite 1 bag brown rice flower 24 1/2 pint jars
Now for a FC I was wondering would one of the seed starting trays with a dome and heat pad work? I'd still put holes in the dome for FAE, perlite in the bottom And have the cakes on foil after colonization. This kind of tray

The heat mat might be unnecessary but it wouldn't hurt would it? As for some light I have a grow bar that isn't very strong, just something I used to start some seedlings before. The FC will be in a closet on a raised shelf and I will have a very small personal fan in the closet to circulate air. Any suggestions?

i would ditch that whole set up. that is for flowers n stuff. use the sgfc tek or monotub. you could use the heat mat for help in incubation temps but depends on if u can control the temps. Just my opinion but that tray n lid are a waste of time. Follow a tek then there is less questions on if it will work. fruiting chambers dont need a heat source unless you live in climates where temps are below 70.

Yeah I want to do the sgfc but didn't want a giant tub taking up unnecessary space in my closet. I'm just wondering if something like that is possibly easier to control heat and humidity. The issue is just space.

An SGFC in a closet is tough because it needs air flow. Make sure you leave the door open when you can but this even may not provide enough.

That dome won't control humidity like a terrarium will. The goal is to have fresh air circulating to keep the humidity up and allow fresh air in. I don't even see the openings on the top which would make this more viable.

See how that one at least has an opening? That will work better for bulk but not for cakes.
Honestly for cakes, SGFC is the way to go.

I dunno know how much them humidity domes are OP, but you could just spend 10 bucks and build a proper sgfc

Alright, other than scrap the dome idea... Anything else? Like I said I'll have that small fan in the closet to help circulate air

Fans will push too much air most of the time, you'll be misting and fanning a lot more.
But try it out and if you have problems just post pics and we'll get you going. Just speaking from my experience.

even if that had holes it would be hard to use. way to short, no room for air movement less alone space for the mush clan to grow. sgfc i think would work but with lil space you would need to inject fresh air into the closet. stail air promote contam growth. more fresh air , less chances for contam , but you have to keep rh up above 95%

No you don't. A proper sgfc's humidity fluctuates around 60-75% rh give or take.
Do you realize how saturated the air is at 95%? Everything you're trying to grow would be a gooey mess

if your doing casings you dont need rh as high because the casing has its own microclimate, cakes on the othe hand need the high humidity.

No shit. But you can't have your sgfc that high. Its not even possible really unless you just misted.
With a casing that's what provides the microclimate.
The reason you think your sgfc is 95+% is because so many people just repeat the information they hear without actually knowing what they're talking about.

Hygrometers in SGFCs only read that high because people put them on top of the perlite...

In nature nothing gets 95% RH constantly and doesn't grow mold.
We want fluctuating temperatures and RH that simulate an outdoor environment.

I'm currently growing bulk wbs/coir/vermiculite haven't mistedthe tub since I cased and still at 99% humidity with hepa air pump and occasionally fanning. Is this bad? Read a post about gooey mess at that high rh. Should I be concerned, I've been trying to get it down a bit as top of mycelium is covered in dew.

If your rH is truly that high (which I doubt), water will never evaporate, which means you loose a vital pinning trigger.

You're not supposed to mist a monotub anyway. A properly dialed in tub shouldn't have to be touched once until harvest.
Please tell me you don't have a hygrometer in your mono? Take That shit out if you do.
HYGROMETERS HAVE NO PURPOSE IN THIS HOBBY.

If you build it (to tek), they will grow.
