Contaminants usually come from the syringe, so leaving them for long periods of time is fine. Theoretically, you could leave them for months or even years as long as they were truly sterilized, but you could loose the proper moisture content by letting them sit for so long. The fridge is best for storing sterilized jars or mycelium you want to slow down.
