Fungus 'locking up' ions with Keliar Proteins
    #21988675 - 07/24/15 06:52 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys,

interested to hear your thoughts on this very interesting information regarding fungus species that can 'lock up' gold and other metals with proteins making them non-toxic to the fungus.

I wonder if a fungi species could 'lock up' salt ions similar to what is being done in the above study. I posted awhile ago about Geoff Lawton in his 'greening the desert' video and how he mentioned fungi made the salt inert making crops able to grow in otherwise salty soil.

You should add this to your other thread:

Thats essentially the explaination as to how the fungi species bioabsorb metallic ions.

It has been done with many different species primarily pleurotus.

Chelation might also be possible with larger ions such as mercury.

Yeah I remember reading that actually in mycelium running... didn't make the connection back then.

I'd be interested to see if you could grow plants in fungus based mixes on salt planes. There is thousands of acres of saline land here in Australia!
