Hey guys,
When expanding my spawn into pasteurized sawdust does this need to be done in sterile environments?
So could I order say a spawn bag of Oyster, pasteurize a few kg's of sawdust and set up another 10-20 bags then disperse the oyster spawn throughout the sawdust not under sterile conditions?

So when cultivators g2g 1000+ jars they do it all in front of a flowhood? I would think not

Spawning to bulk also is often done with only a pasterization I was wondering if I could say spawn to bulk, then spawn that bulk spawn once colonized into more bulk substrate

no, G2G is always done in a sterile environment. Spawning to bulk is your last expansion. There is too much opportunity for contamination if you expand again after that. Also, this belongs in the cultivation forum, not advanced

No point, your substrate isnt sterile so a sterile environment will have no benefit.
Sawdust expansions can be done after colonization of sawdust from grain but it must be done sterile until the final expansion which should be a bulking so pasteurisation is ideal. You must also use a 50% spawn rate at minimum to expect anything but contams when doing sawdust spawn to sawdust spawn whereas grain to sawdust bulk can be done as low as 10% or even less
Logically less but larger expansions are always better. Grains are concentrated and we use them for a reason. Inoculate a master grain jar, G2G, then bulk up and fruit

Yeah if anyone is crazy enough to have 1000 jars they would have a large flow hood. But if you were at that scale you would buy spawn in. Or use bags for masters. Jars are a lot of work to shake and they break so I don't known anyone who keeps that many. I buy a bag of grain spawn and expand it to hundreds of bags or even into the thousands with sawdust spawn. But I do it in front of a hood
