Bucket for grain??
    #21986544 - 07/23/15 06:19 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Gonna prep for bulk substrate soon. I know you need a 5 gallon sealable bucket to put the grain (WBS) in after you boil the water. I have a bunch of 5 gallon sealable buckets but they all have a little opening in them that makes it so u can pour whatever liquid was in there into. I know a bump can protrude in the center of the lid because of the steam. Would it be cool if I used a bucket of that style to soak my WBS

I don't think I know any one that uses or has used a bucket for soaking grain but go for it.

most people use their pressure cooker or a large stockpot.

WBS is grain spawn, not bulk substrate.
You don't need a 5 gallon bucket to prepare WBS spawn, or any bucket at all.  Just a collander/strainer and a large pot.  A tote, tote lid, large oven sheet, piece of plastic, etc can be used to spread it out and allow it to evaporate if needed.

I'm sure any bucket will be fine.

Check this WBS prep out, I like it quite a bit, though I PC for 70 mins (some like 90, or even 120)

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

No, this does not look right...

You may be thinking about using a bucket for pasteurization

I use buckets to soak grain for runs in my big pc. But that's when I'm doing 30 dry pounds of rye at a time, which is a lot. No lid though
