New to oysters - agar to WBS to bulk bucket

Hello all, though I am not new to mycology I am new to growing oysters. I am going to clone store bought oysters with agar, then transfer the wedge to sterilized WBS quarts in my SAB. Then I want to spawn to buckets as I am running out of room and I will be able to hang them from the wall.
My question is: would it be good to use a mostly coir substrate (pasteurized of course) with some pH balance and vermiculite, or would you recommend going all straw? From what I've read it seems most people prefer straw as their bulk sub. But I already have a lot of coir.
And any links to an actual Tek would be handy. I've only read what other people have done with only bits and pieces of information here and there so a full write up would be nice.
Edited to add: I'm also going to try to clone enokis- I know they are hard because of how difficult it is to get a clean culture with such skinny stems.

I've had problems with straw in buckets. The center has gone anerobic on me multiple times.
I've never personally used coir for oysters but I've read that others have had poor results. Having never done it myself I won't say it works or not.
With my buckets, I have had excellent results with boiled wood chips. Colonization is fast. Contamination resistance is great. And I can usually pull off about 5 good flushes.
Gimme a min and Ill look for some links.

Yeah I wouldn't bother with an oyster grow on coir. Straw is the best choice for oyster IMO. I've had great results with a sterilised mix of sawdust and wheat bran but straw is just so easy to prep. I've used straw in buckets and much larger totes and gon past 5 flushes with no sign of contamination. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21690790

A pointer on the buckets. Don't stack them especially for the first 1-2 weeks while they are colonizing. Once they are colonized the temps typically drop and they can be stacked. The core temp stacks and the bottom pail will be 20-30F higher than ambient. Stack them with wood between each pail if you do. I do pails but currently using mulch and manures.

I have been curious how coir would perform by itself so last week I made this bag using just coir verm and water then spawned with wbs.
This was spawned on 7-17 with yellow oysters, i will let you know if it works.

I'm currently doing a wood chip with 20% coir no coir experiment. Although I'm having FAE and humidity issues with a recent swap from a cool mist to a pail with ultrasonic. So the experiment needs to be redone once I dial it back in.

Are oysters like other subs where you mostly provide moisture through sub field capacity? Or do I need to introduce humid conditions/mist?

My samples are starting to recover on my agar plates! Oysters here I come! Will post pics when they've grown enough to do isolates.

Thanks! You as well!
My current PC can only fit one qt jar and still operate so until I can afford a new one (had only done PF Tek in the past, it could fit 14 1/2 pints) it will be slow work but I'm super excited.
Are you starting with agar as well?

Why not do grain in 1/2 pints. I used 24 1/2 pints of WBS for my first grow.

Honestly that seems like way more of a hassle than just waiting to buy a bigger PC. I only have so many agar plates- was planning on g2g- wouldn't that make g2g difficult? And also reduce how far you can take an inoculation?

Making a grain jar is no more work than making a PF cake. G2G is easier with smaller jars. Just a suggestion though. Do what you want. When I used 1/2 pints I used 1 1/2 pint to inoculate 12 via G2G.

I have no source to clone so I have to buy grain spawn. I got the 23 quart presto pc brand new. It's huge. I'm going to put 5 gallon buckets worth of hay in it once I have the spawn ready. Gunna pc some wbs probably like 5-6 quarts per 5 gallon bucket. Thinking about making 6 buckets for marketing locally

Well I might give it a go... About to birth 14 cakes so I would have the spare room. What kind of filter did you use for them? I've got polyfil and micropore tape- need to wait to get paid to get sfd.

I just cloned store bought oysters. If you are near any Asian markets the generally have a plethora of mushrooms to choose from
