Fruiting Chamber Question

So, I'm going through videos on how to build a fruiting chamber. I've seen two methods: perlite and air stone. I'm leaning towards perlite.
Is it necessary to hook up a light and a fan to the fruiting chamber? If I just use a clear, plastic bin would the light from a window be sufficient?

Smart move.

No. Build a proper SGFC and it will be fine by itself.

Yes. It is fine.

PMP (the airstone method) are not nearly as good as a SGFC. Make sure you drill the holes on all six sides.
You would be surprised how easy cubes can be to fruit. Some people case cakes into a tray and some people just set trays on a shelf with crinkled wax paper or bubble wrap over the top of them sometimes a FC just isnt a possibility or laziness prevails

Youre welcome!
Let us know if you need more help. Getting your fruiting conditions and chamber dialed in can be a real nightmare.
I just had a few cakes stall because the casing layer got compacted from heavy misting
Something super simple delayed my cakes 3 days!

My fruiting chamber is a bit over kill but I have had great results with it. I use a 15 gal aquarium filled up about 2 inches of perlite I have a small air pump with a hose running to the base of each cake this pushes the co2 away from the babies and supplies them with kick ass fair air exchange. I also have a cold air humidifier with a flex hose ran into the perlite that I turn on and off to maintain the correct humidity not that the perlite along isn't good enough I just like to feel involved . The tank is sealed at the top with syran wrap with openings to allow the bad gasses to escape. Like I said it's a bit over kill but it was about $55 to build and it works very very well.

Haha yeah I know it's a bit much but I like projects so I went all out. Also I forgot to add the temp I have had the best luck with is 77.
