The hell is this?
    #21980173 - 07/22/15 12:34 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

This specimen was growing out of a recently fallen but long since decayed oak. There were three of them inside the stump that had taken root.

They were completely whit before I picked them. Immediatly after handling they turned completely yellow so I snapped the stem of one specimen and it was white on the inside with a rapid red staining reaction. Eventually the whole mushroom turned red Brown and left rusty stains all over my fingers.

They smell not unlike some edibles. Similar to reishi species.

They were found not far from a river bed. Its really hot and humid here in SE Georgia.

I realize the pictures are going to make it impossible to ID. I'm just waiting on one of you to tell me to go take a better picture of an unpacked fresh specimen.

Agaricus silvaticus?
It was growing from wood or near it?
Do you have any clearer pictures?

I can get some pictures of how they are white and unplucked. Growing inside of an oak tree hollowed out trunk where it made a bed of wood debris and decay.

The last one looks like a Cortinarius species.
