Mushrooms growing in 99 Degree heat!
    #21980107 - 07/22/15 12:11 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I have an little garden area of Albinos growing outside and have done pretty well so far. But the forecast for the next 2 weeks is supposed to be 99-102 degrees every day with the humidity around 80%. The garden is pretty well shaded by trees and bushes, but do you think I can keep them going all summer as long as I water them often. Here are some pics of the garden now

I bet you could.

I am going to try something like this in back of my place where I have a composted pile of grass clippings. Did you use a particular tek to form this nice little patch? In other words how did you do it?

I took fully colonized jars and spread them in the garden which had a lot of nice compost, then I soaked some choir and verm about 50/50 just like you would do for a monotub then mixed that on the top. I water it at least twice a day as well

Sounds like it would work. Also a spent sub or two thrown under the compost would probably result in some interesting surface action by and by.

Well, squirrels are people too, you know.

The first time I grew mushrooms my temps in my garage was in the 90s.

I love fruiting in cooler temps though. Denser fruits. I like no more than 75-80.

I had an outdoor patch, although I keep finding bites taken out of them, the area being heavily disturbed by digging, and strange noises coming from the woods at night. These raccoons are having a blast!

I noticed that penis envy seems to like high 70s-low 80s.

LOL
not exactly.
Mushrooms are "tropical" anyway. They are already adapted to growing in hot temps.

I am sure some strains grow better in high heat than others

What type of "strains" are you speaking of?
