Shop bought plastic jars lid?
    #21979873 - 07/22/15 10:56 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hi all, can someone be so kind to explain me how to use the plastic jars lid here below? I bought something similar almost a year ago but never realized how to use em  :noway2:

Do I need to make an injection port?

I've never seen those lids before. But I think these plastic lids are what you're looking for:

And just screw off the lid in a SAB, no need for injection ports.

I bought mine from a sponsor site so I thought they was already good to go, but the white stripes are only for air exchange so I'm wondering what are they good for

IMO it would be easier and cheaper to make your own GE filter with the plastic lids instead. Just drill a 3/8 or 5/16" GE hole in the lid and silicone glue a small piece of a SFD to the top of the lid. Let it dry overnight and you're ready to use them.

Yeah I already did some glass jars, I guess the ones I bought are for G2G only

Or they were for making the person who sold them money only.

you can use them for more than just G2G you dont need a injection port to use a syringe as inoculate just unscrew the lid in a SAB tilt it just enough to sneak your needle in there and inoculate i like this method better because your flamed sterile needle never touches anything unlike sticking it thru an injection port sanitized with alcohol to me it just seems like another contam vector even though many do it with no problems just my 2cents

If its some kinda plastic, try heating your syringe needle red hot, like you should anyway, and just poke it trough
Most plastics should just melt and make a hole, after inocc you can just cover the hole up with any kind of tape
Or just unscrew carefully and/or inside SAB, little risk of contam there
