ID request from Taiwan
    #21979421 - 07/22/15 08:37 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hi all!  I heard that there were active mushrooms growing in a pasture on a particular mountain in Taipei City, Taiwan, where I currently reside.  Some local decided it was a good idea to pick some random mushrooms and add them to his nightly stir-fry, and his resulting psychedelic trip / drooling fit was apparently sensational enough to make the news in this pretty traditional and conservative country.  That was about a year ago.

I went on a relatively sunny, humid day that had been preceded by two days of heavy showers.  These were the only mushrooms I saw on the mountain that day.

Habitat:  Mountain pasture, growing off of water buffalo dung.

Gills: dark grey

Stem:  The tallest I found had a stem roughly 14 cm, and very similar in color to the cap

Cap:  largest about 6 cm in diameter, off white and browning ever so slightly around the tip of the cap

Spore print color: black

Bruising: none apparent

Location: Taipei, Taiwan

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Those are Panaeolus antillarum, not active. Panaeolus cyanescens looks similar but will bruise blue.
