Opinions about my first grow (kit)

Hi Shroomers!
Before I write why I need your opinion, research was made. About grow kits, contamination, etc...
On my business trip to Amsterdam, almost a month ago, unfortunately I didnt had time to take shrooms and enjoy new experience. Never tried shrooms before and I am looking forward to the day I am gonna try it. So, I bought a Mexicana small grow kit and took it with back to my country...
I watched instructions on the company who makes those kits and did as they said. On the box they claim that harvest time is about 2.5-3 weeks. I "started" grow kit approximately 3 weeks and 1-3 days ago, 27th or 28th of June.
What I did is :
- soaked with water for approx 2 hours - instructions on the site - Had it under lamp for some days for a few hours. Read that they have to know where to grow - Opened bag from time to time for fresh air - Moved (cause I had to) grow kit from one room to the other
When they started growing, everything looked good. However, last days it looks like they stopped growing and pins/heads are not so big as I have seen they should be. Its small grow kit, though.
Shrooms looks like a small and big matches.
Please let me know how does this look for you.
Attached pictures I took hour ago.

Over the years I used a decent amount of grow kits and what I experienced was that it was not uncommon for the first flush to have more smaller mushrooms than the 2nd and 3rd flushes. I aired mine 2 times a day, in the morning and in the evening. I just always put mine at the window where it got sunlight in the morning.
Also keep in mind that the pictures from the company that makes them are always perfect, they probably take 1 picture from tens or hundreds of flushes they got out of it. Also, the average yield they promote is always a high average.

hi guys,
Thanks for responses.
I just learned that FAE is fresh air exchange. I am going definitely to open it 2-3 times a day for fresh air.
Sokamin, I am in marketing myself so I understand what you say
What is your opinion, how many days left before I can harvest those "matches"? Could you guess from those pics how much shrooms I will get, approximately? What about that white ting which is on steams, will this be ok to eat?
Thanks for your respons.

I have that too. I think I saw somewhere on here that was okay and was a sign of not enough FAE?? Some one help me out here. I tried to find that post but the Shroomery is infinite!!

The white stuff is mostly because to little FAE, but you can still consume them.
You could wait a day and see if they still grow/if the caps open up. If they don't grow I suggest you harvest them.

You should be fanning and misting them with water. The grow kit instructions try and make out like you need to do fuck all.
It is not mexicana either, it would be a mexican psilocybe cubensis. Psilocybe Mexicana is a different species.
here is a fuzzy shroom due to lack of fresh air exchange

Opening it 3 times a day will not provide enough FAE- if what I'm picturing is what you have, just build an SGFC (shotgun fruiting chamber- use the search engine, check the Trusted Cultivators box) and put it in there after it has colonized 100%. If you don't want to build one, though you probably should, at least poke a bunch of holes in your bag after full colonization.

I would like to add that last few days were sizzling hot and temperature in the apartment was from 20 to 30 degrees.
So, I am going to FAE 2-3 times daily for next 1-3 days and tmrw I will buy spray bottle.
Really hope that this weekend I can have my first shrooms experience

FAE 2-3 times a day isn't enough. You should follow TA's advice

Unfortunately, I dont have any tools or times to do it... Could I just make a few small holes on the bag?
After full colonization means...? Sorry, English is my 3rd language
As you can see, those white stripes are supposed to do that, so shrooms can breath - at least, thats what company who sells those kits says.

I guess you bought a kit because you don't have time and space enough. I found an old picture I took from a B+ grow kit, it's also a small kit and I just wanted to show it to you. I didn't air this at all, didn't spray it with water, all I did was soak it 12 hours after a flush, put it in the bag and placed it at the window. This picture is the first flush, it's 43 grams wet -> 4 grams dry.

The stripes are for gas exchange not fae but yes put some holes in there and keep it misted... Humidity only matters at the surface when tying to initiate knots. Other than that just keep it misted with lots of CONSTANT fae

Cheers guys for all tips. I am going to make some small holes now.
Will let you know how it goes.
Sokamin, thats true. I am a bit busy with work and live in a rented apartment and dunno how long I will stay here...
And that small GK looks nice. Hope I will get at least 20-30 grams after 1st flush so I can invite someone tripping

Adding the holes should drastically increase your chances of that as long as you don't let it dry out

Hi all,
Here comes small update with pictures.
I made around 20 small holes 1-2mm each (should I have more, bigger wholes?), on both side of the bag. Also bought a spray so I misted it 2-3 times today already.
Took few pics a few min ago. Not much has changed.
So, few question.
There is a bit black things on a steam or 2, could this be contamination or is it normal as they get mature?
Will wait untill tmrw, and if no progress, shall I harvest it?
Can someone guess if there is at least 20g fresh shrooms there?
There is also some side (inside plastic cup) small shrooms. Shall I leave them as they are when harvesting or shall I removed them somehow?
Cheers, Dzolaya

is your kit placed near an oven or something that gives off heat? you can also open the bag at the top, dont fold it over. harvest side mushrooms when you harvest the others/they are mature.
I'd make more/bigger holes. just heat a pin and burn small holes all over.
or build a sgfc if you ever plan on growing again. www.mushroomvideos.com

I bet it would have been way better with fae. Long skinny stems with small caps, and very disorganized looking.. fae is crucial in this hobby. Sure no fae works. Just look at the op's tray. Very skinny looking with very small caps looking like they'll abort soon. But fae will give you stuff like seen in my signature, or basically from any good growers grows.
All you gotta do with kits is just poke holes into the bag and tape up if you put too many. Bags are perfect for dialing in. Unfortunately most people who get kits don't know what to look for, and how to rig it for optimal conditions.
