Do you believe in fate/destiny?

Do you believe you're in control of your life? Or are you just playing out some predetermined path that you cannot alter? Maybe something in between like you're in control of simple decisions but somehow no matter what you choose you'll still be lead down the path to your ultimate fate? Maybe you're meant to just be a hateful person and you keep choosing to see the good in people until ultimately you just become so bitter by being wronged constantly you end up being hateful. (That's an example, not a situation I feel I'm currently in for the record)
--------------------
With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

I believe you have free will as god said. If you follow his word he will lead you down the path he wants you on. If you refuse to listen to him and go your own way no matter what your inner voice says, aka sin, he will let you do that as well.
I used to believe to multiple possibilities or paths in life, which is still true, but there are only 2 main paths. A life of following gods word (and no, not how most churches are teaching) or a life of following sin.

I don't think these two possibilities can be distinguished in any meaningful way. If choice is an illusion then it's a totally immersive one. We don't have the ability to travel back in time to see whether things could have gone differently.

Everyone's ultimate fate is death and this can't be changed, so I guess this is true in a sense. I don't think that if you narrowly avoid death in a plane crash then the form of death you 'cheated' must be what eventually kills you or anything like that though. I think there was a series of movies like that but I didn't watch them because they sounded stupid.

Fate is a crutch for the weak and ineffective. It can be that there is no fate and no free will.

I believe we're destined to do certain things (we all have a calling), but it's up to us to get there.

I think it's magic and depends on what you believe. Everything that can and could exist is in theory happening everywhere all the time at once and we are living along a certain path through it. So we can change the paths but you would still be in the matrix of possibilities. So it's kinda perspective. I use to think about this stuff all the time and then I decided to focus on real shit.

without getting into the god argument this time... if everything is expressed as a mathematical equation, there is no free will. your actions and decisions are based from what you've learned. if everything happened the same way in another universe and nothing was changed you'd make the same decisions you did. therefore it's plausible to conceive that fate might actually exist.

Hmm it has to do with everything and nothing. If something exists then everything has to exist to support the construct, so all possible outcomes are happening at once. So we would always be in a situation that is mathematically possible but our decisions within the situation are allowed to free.

Fate by definition implies a power or agency determines events. Even if everything was determined due to us being a bounded point on entropies path (ignoring the implications of quantum uncertainty and information loss in black holes), I don't believe an agency dictates it. By definition, that agency would be bound by 'Fate' too, so it's actions are predetermined and inconsequential - so we can just ignore them. If it can use woo to break its own bonds, then all bets are off and it can be ignored anyway as pondering its impossible nature would be a futile act.
We are here, one day we wont be, the end.

I wonder if it even matters what you believe and what the reality is.. you know what I mean?
Like, you believe you're in charge, but no, it's just a script. You'd never know and it would not affect your fate in anyway.
Or say you believe it is all written already, but in reality it is just chaos... Your belief is a part of your free will (?) and your pattern in the chaos... I confused myself now. What I want to say is.. I don't think neither your belief nor the truth matters at all.

Haha Turtletotem word that's kinda where I ultimately kind of ended up. Stuffs fun to think about but in the end you start looping and the reality of either option kinda starts to look the same.

Somedays I feel like i'm in the control. Most of the time, I feel like I'm just reading off a script.
I feel like I have control over some of the more basic decision in my life e.g. what i'm eating for breakfast etc.
As a whole though, I feel like the ultimate path my life will take has already been written.
I do like the math analogy that was brought up before. The answer you get is always going to be finite. Everyone just has different variables and is plugging in different numbers.

What if it's a stochastic equation? Then it's not set on stone. And indeed evidence shows that the most precise way to model basic phenomenon of nature is with stochastic equations.
