New Electronica?

Lately I have been tiring of my music collection, and was wondering if the intellegent, knowledgable, and thoroughly experienced people here could point me in the right direction. I have enjoyed Aphex, Bad Plus, Nightmares On Wax, Autchre, Incredible String Band , Pulp played backwards, Wagon Christ, Bjork and pretty much anything that takes (mainly electronic) music in NEW directions. New for me at least.
I heard Bad Plus' take on 'Flim' and love the idea of Acoustic Tech. Any body know of any other moves in this direction? Also, I used to really get off listening to Baraka through my stereo. Does anyone know if the soundtrack is exactly like the movie? I would nearly ejaculate at the sound of that big tree falling! And enjoyed the other 'sound collage' effects of the original movie too. Like Orb, but 10x W E I R D E R ! (M)anyways, sorry to prattle. What's yer 2cents? Thanks. See you in a week.

ahhh man, you NEED some Boards of Canada. With those other artists you like, there's no way you won't love this band. They are on Warp like Aphex and NoW and Autechre, and they are themselves fans of Incredible String Band (some of BoC's booklets are said to be allusions to theirs). They've got 2 full albums: Music Has A Right To Children, and Geogaddi. They blend such strange sonic atmospheres of childlike innocence and a mysterious possibly subliminal quality that makes their sound so unique and organic. Great often chill beats, mixed with beautiful melodies, and a mysterious texture with tons of vocal samples (without overdoing anything). I suggest you find their albums as soon as possible. but if you want a track or two to sample their taste, try "Music Is Math", "Aquarius", "Roygbiv", and "Turquoise Hexagon Sun". Very trippy, very deep music. Very captivating, intelligent, mysterious style, almost makes you wonder what's underneath? The most interesting electronic music (along with Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, and Shpongle) I've ever heard. It really takes depth of music further and further... Get it! NOW!

I agree with you, man. It all comes down to tastes. That's why I really didn't comment, as it is just a difference in opinion, it just doesn't suit me is all.
Figured I would add that it has been a good long time since I have heard that name, and that I was happy in my ignorance. Peace.

Check out a band called Out Hud. Its a side project combining members of !!!(chk chk chk) and the Rapture (both cool bands, but not as electronic as Out Hud.) The CD is basically instrumental, side a few words at the beginning of one song. But anyway, they've got one fairly long EP out right now, with a !!!/Out Hud split coming in early 2004. I love this CD, just got it for christmas. If you like shpongle, you'll probably like Out Hud. Check out goldstandardlabs.com for other electronica and "electro clash" bands.

Hehe, I am in the mood for doing some exploring, so I have some Notwist downloading now. The album that has Pilot on it, so all of those, and then Solitare, My Phrasebook, and Neon Garden.
I hope to find them intriguing! I'll come back when I have listened to them and will let you know my thoughts.
Thanks for mentioning them. Peace.
