Lightly misting to cause quick evaporation on the sub to increase humidity?? Monotub
    #21971555 - 07/20/15 04:33 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

If I want to increase humidity in my monotub would I lightly mist, then fan immediately afterwards and put the lid back on?

Like super light 2 seconds with a mister.

I know that I can create humidity by stuffing the holes tighter BUT I don't want to sacrifice FAE.

SO,

Do you guys just lightly mist them then fan immediately?

I know that monotubs are set and forget, but I'd like to have near optimum results.

Next grow I will have a cool mist running in the room 24/7 to increase humidity outside of the tub which would lead to increased humidity inside of the tub.

Someone please educate me if my logic is flawed.

You are entirely over thinking this.

Don't mist a mono, period. Unless its between flushes.
Don't have a cool mist in your room either.

sure you can mist a mono, a properly dialed in monotub is set and forget
but on the way to learning that you can mist the sub if you had too much fae going on.

the only humidity that really matters is that on the sub surface. you can tell whether its good or not by looking at it.
its even easier when you use a casing layer on top, it gets all light in color when dry
and allows you too give a lot of fae without sacrificing the sub surface rh. :super:

Well if you mist to put water droplets in the air and then remove the air containing the water droplets by fanning, how is it going to raise the humidity?

Generally the humidity isn't going to be an issue with a monotub. If you mist a monotub it's to rehydrate the substrate if needed.

You will not need the cool mist unit nor will it help increase humidity in your monotub - I know because I tried it & wasted my money....however a light misting in between flushes is ok. Try to keep the lid on tight until after the first flush- you really shouldn't need to mist the sub before fruiting it unless your sub is drying out too fast- be sure to seal up the holes in your monotub with tape until your sub is fully colonized & ready for casing/fruiting . You want the bottom holes to be stuffed much tighter than the top holes with polyfill to promote "stacking" of humid air - you want to create a microsphere of humdity in the inch above the sub & below the bottom FAE holes yet allow the exchange of air in the higher areas of the tub during fruiting conditions.
