Mono Harvest
    #21970560 - 07/20/15 12:36 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Does it make more of a difference in a mono tub than on BRF cakes if you "pick em as they come" rather than wait for the whole thing to be ready to pick?  I sort of don't like it when they drop spores so I've taken to just picking when ready.  I see a lot of pics on this site of mono tubs that appear to have fruited at the same rate across the whole tub, as in a whole tub of ready shrooms that haven't dropped spores yet. Is that something that gets fine tuned with years of experience, or is there something I could immediately improve on?

Thanks! Here's a pic of one of my monos for which I waited as long as I could stand and harvested right after this pic...

If you are really trying to maximize weight and those faster maturing fruits are part of a cluster that would be damaged by its removal. Simply cut the cap off that singular mushroom and let the rest of the cluster mature. there is some debate about spores on substrate surfaces, but I personally try to prevent it when possible.

Clones and isolates give you more even pinsets and growth rates. If you are working with an ms culture, you may not tell the diference from one flush to another.

That's good advice.
I don't work with MS unless its a print I got from someone. I just wanted to help this guy who has shit all over his tub.

Cool. I was actually referring to his statement about others having more uniform flushes.

Thanks guys! I don't care about yield enough at this point to worry about clones/isolates, and thusly will not expect even growth. great tip on the cap cutting, will totally do that
