I'd like some feedback on a painting I've started please
    #21970535 - 07/20/15 12:26 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys and gals I started this peice of art yesterday. I'm not sure what direction I'm going to take it in. Any ideas or I out would be greatly appreciated as I'm having a hard time trying to put something together but I really just feel the need to paint. I don't want to just paint whatever because they always turn out a mess I want something I can be really proud of to hang in my house something that actually looks half way decent. Anyways here's what I have so far and by the way this is painted on a peice of drywall and it's about 6 feet long and maybe a foot think. The color blending on it is about the best that I can do it's also my real first attempt at it. So what do you guys think so far?

This is the progression so far

Here's the blank peice of dry wall now it had water stains on it wich is how I first got the idea to paint it I outlined the water stains in permanent marker next and the began to paint so here's the blank peice

Here's the progression so far

And what it looks like now I still have to clean it up at the end this is just rough

I love the vibrancy of the colors with how you did all the outlining and everything

I feel like you should add some more color to the grey and try to make some sort of focal point

I plan on adding more colors I origionally was going for that like pastel type color to make it look sort of psychedelic but when I started paint g I just liked the brighter colors better. I have a bunch of acrylic and oil paints I've gotten for free. So I use make do with the materials I have.

Thanks for the comments guys I do want to add purple to it too and I think I found a focal point. There was a dent in the dry wall when I got it so I'm trying to make that the focal point here it's is

I think I will make the center purple and the try to blend the colors together to make them look like they are transitioning I think I need to add some yellow and orange as well as more green too I think I'm seeing it come together a bit now

Maybe something coming out of the dent/hole?  Spiders?

It reminds me of a map of some sort like a zoom in of Ireland or something like that ya know what I mean?

It looks like some kind of trippy 3D landscape, and like the hole could be the "peak" of the 3D mountains and you could do really anything you like with it

Do keep us posted, I like this piece, can't wait to see it done

Contrast.

Dark purple next to bright green next to dark blue = pop. Make the bright colors jump out using darker contrasts next to them

You're already doing it with your black outlining and white fading, along with good use of vibrant colors in general

You could try to use some neon/almost neon colors too

Ok I see what you meant thanks so much for the help I really appreciate it lots I. Going to start working on it now

@ gottaloveacid

I have neon blue and pink I think I have to double check.

@everyone
Any album suggestions to paint to? I like listening to trippy music while painting or something very emotional and inspiring I listened to primus and the chocolate factory yesterday while painting but that's about all I can stand listening to by primus that I know of. I also listened to faces by Mac miller and to pimp a butterfly by Kendrick Lamar. Just to give you an idea of my music taste

I like things that are produced very well things that reall flow together and make a full story

Dam that's crazy I don't think I'm at this level yet but I'm striving for something as epic as those I'm trying my best but this is only my 3rd real painting that I didn't just use for practice and reall concentrated on.

I think I want to call it patterns of nature because the pattern has come from the water stains on the drywall. I did something like that on another painting I did. I like painting patterns I see in nature the little things people don't even give a glimpse at but I look at it and I see something more something that has the potential to be beautiful  and now what people wouldn't give the time of day to will stare and be amazed.  I find it to be like I'm amplifying the simple things at life that people should enjoy but they don't because they are all just like clones following the same path never stopping to enjoy those little things in life.... I'm rambling but yeah those are my thoughts on this peice
