I was hunting at a small forested area in Salem, NH.. And i may have stumbled across aome wild psilocybes i think.. First thing that got me was the smell...it was the exact same as other cubensis mushrooms i had taken. This wasnt in a pasture or anything it was just in a small forested area off of a lake. I will provide some pictures but i believe these mushrooms belong to the gymnopulis speieces. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

If you're talking about the ones in your photo gallery they are NOT Gymnopilus...Do not eat them...I'm not sure what they are but most of the things they look like aren't anything you'd want to be eating...

If you're talking about the ones in your photo gallery they are NOT Gymnopilus...Compare with Amanita frostiana and A. flavoconia.

Yes they are the ones in my photo gallery. The smell is nearly identical to other psilocybes ives eaten but only cubensis from a grow kit. I'm gonna be bummed if these are amanitas. Yuck. I thought they were gyms for sure but thanks for saving my life!

I didn't save your life as the pics in your gallery are not deadly. I might have saved you from a stomach ache, or more likely I saved you from eating bad tasting mushrooms which have no effect.

Ok thank you anyway. What can you tell me about the smell of mushrooms.. What is it indicitive of? I swear these smelled the exact same as cubensis I've eaten before. Also what happens if they start to bruise blue?

The smell of mushrooms is a clue as to which chemicals are present.
Psilocybe cubensis smells like cucumber when fresh. When dried it just smells like dried mushrooms, which is why your mushrooms smell like cubes.

If they are psilocybin mushrooms and they start to bruise blue, that is an indication that they are losing potency because the blue color is caused by a reaction with oxygen. If they are not psilocybin mushrooms and they bruise blue, that means they have some other chemical such as variegatic acid that reacts with oxygen to form a blue color.
