I have a adjustable food dehydrator, if I put in on lower setting 105 degrees i can dry the mushrooms in 8 hours or so, does this damage the potency of them in anyway? or is it ok to do.. it saves the hastle of having to air dry them with no heat then putting in desiccant contanier?

Hi there,
I'm no expert but I have had success drying them on a cheap dehydrator from Wally World that doesn't even have a setting. Mine has stackable tray with a lid... I set them on the very top tray and leave the lid off. They, too, dry in around 6-8 hours, sometimes a bit longer.
But I have never experienced much potency loss from what I can tell.
Thats my 2 cents. Hope I helped a bit!

That's fine. I don't remember the exact number but psilocybin breaks down at a much higher temp.

At that low of a temp its going to take 48 hours. Most of us do 170f as hot as it will go and it still takes over 12 for small to medium and over 24 for big ones. If you think they're cracker dry after 8 hours at any temperature you're fooled by the outside being dry.

Potency loss occurs over 400F you can fry cubes in hot oil and still trip. You can pressure cook cubes and still trip. You can soak them in boiling water and the tea will be very strong and make you trip. Crank your dehydrator up all the way. Time spent not cracker dry diminishes potency so dry them asap

you must live in a super humid enviroment if it takes you that long to dry them, i just dry them until they snap in about 8 hours, and get around 10% weight vs wet.. I was just worried about potency loss but this clears it up thanks

Then you have shitty small dinky shrooms. Or they're only cracker dry on the outside. I've got guys up in Canada with 0-10% RH still can't dry their small guys at 170f in 8 hours.

Use the highest setting on the dehydrator if it's adjustable.

MMMMMmmm.... deep fried cubes.... Anyone actually done that? Deep fried King Oysters are amazing. Deep fried button mushrooms from the typical fast food joint just don't compare. I'm sure deep fried cubes won't be very good since their taste sucks to begin with. But I think it would sure be fun to find out!

You should really try deep fried kings! I've spoiled my family with them. We call standard deep fried mushrooms "pedestrian" now.
