Where have you been?
    #21969065 - 07/20/15 03:25 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Travel thread!
Where do you come from, and what countries have you visited?

Me, I come from the GLORIOUS NETHERLANDS, and have visited mostly other European countries. (They are close by.)

So far, I have been to:
-Germany
-Austria
-Belgium
-France
-Spain
-Portugal
-Turkey
-England
-Canada
-Cape Verde Isles
-Senegal

All wonderful places, filled with wonderful people. But I liked Canada the best... Vancouver looked just like an American city on the telly, and everybody was so friendly there!
The temperate rainforest and rocky mountains where places of beauty that just don't have any equal in Europe, in my opinion.
On the ferry to Vancouver Island, I saw a pod of killer whales!

Cape Verde is like Africa light, with no scary diseases, dangerous animals or a lot of violence.
Senegal was a bit scarier, but we had good people with us.

Austria is a famous wintersports destination, but seriously, go there in early autumn. The alps are amazing, and those forests just seemed ablaze with colour.

Germany is surprisingly chill, too. It looks like a more hardcore version of Holland.

Paris and Newcastle can suck it, tho.

So, what about you guys? Bonus points for tourists in the Netherlands!

I've been to all the states on the west coast (of the US), and most of the states bordering those states, and some of the states bordering those states. I've also been to a couple other states, and to BC. That may not seem like a lot, but I probably traveled an equal distance to you over all.

Alaska was the best, easily Alaska. That place has insane potential that's totally untapped. It's nothing at all like it's reputation. It's very west coast, very cool, and the land is unbelievably beautiful. And there's so much of it, and almost all of it is still completely wild. It makes me feel like I'm looking at California in the 1800s. It's so beautiful, and so cool that you know one day it's going to be something big and important.

Portland Oregon is probably the nicest big city I've been in. I know people from Portland will disagree, but compare it to something like San Francisco or (god forbid) LA, and it's heaven. The fact that their motto is "keep portland weird" says a lot about it.

There are other states that are cool in a different way. I don't know how to explain it properly. Places with very small very isolated towns. They have small places that haven't changed much in 150 years. Places that feel like you're stepping back in time. It's nothing I would recommend to somebody from another country. It's just a cool experience being from around here, and going to these places where time never passed. But it's not just that. They have this whole unique culture, and feeling, and isolation to them. Time has passed, but it passed in a completely unique way. There's nothing else like them, but they're so simple it's not like you can point to anything and say "look at that!" I can't explain it right.

I've been all around the West Coast of the US. Also Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and DC. I've been to BC in Canada. I've also been to Mexico (small town near Zihua), Japan, Thailand, and Laos.

Nice, nice.
How is Colorado? That is where the Yellowstone National Park is, right? Have you been there?

And people who have been to my country, what did you think of it?

Colorado was cool. I went in the winter and am not really into snowsports, but I enjoyed going to some hotsprings near Colorado Springs. Also I thought Manatou Springs was a very cool town. They've got natural springs with different mineral contents and in the downtown area, they have fancy old school taps where the different mineral waters come out and you can drink them. Supposed to have all different health benefits and stuff. Also I noticed that most people were nicer than usual in Colorado. Just little things like holding the door for you in restaurants and stuff.

Pretty much all of the south eastern states.

Yellowstone is actually in Wyoming and reaches into parts of Montana. Im from WY but I've been to most states in the lower 48. I've also been to Saskatchewan CAN and a few places in Mexico and Jamaica. My favorite in the US i really like Colorado ( for more then just weed ) and I always have fun in Texas despite the heat.
