Species #1

Habitat:freshly laid grass

Gills:crowded? darkish brown

Stem:straight, narrow, white near cap and tan

Cap:whiteish gray with an amber dot in the center, lighter towards the edge, has darkened now that it's dry, does that make it hygrophanous?

Bruising:none observed

General location:north east

Looks like Panaeolina foenisecii to me.  Should have a brown spore print.

Here's the spore print, initially i thought it was black, but i see what could be the brown hues at the edges where the spore layer is thinner?

No, that's a black print, which would make it Panaeolus cinctulus[/] most likely, given you found it in grass.

Go back to that spot a few days after a good rain and see if you can collect some more!

That is black.  I worked in digital imagery, and believe me, when people start saying I see purple or whatever, I cringe.

My own method for taking spore prints is to take off the stem, put the cap GILLS UP for a few minutes under a hot lamp (this will chase away bugs), and I also can photo or visually check things.  It also will dry the cap a bit so there is no 'Brown juice' coming off on the paper.

Edit:  I have printed up a bunch of printer paper with a black spider on it.  I use this paper for doing prints.
