What is the best set and setting to explore the mind?

Hi forum.
Let me start by saying I am an experienced tripper. But not in a mind exploration way. Between shrooms and Lucy i have tripped 52 times (I keep a trip journal, highly recommend) but each time it has been one or two tabs, or under an eight of shrooms. I have only done salvia divinorum 3 times as well, being my only outer body experience. Lately I have been preparing for my first intentional OBE. I have read a couple psychedelic books and gotten as much insight without "Going there". My question to you experienced trippers, what is the best Set? I feel confident in my abilities to trip alone in my room, as I feel a sitter would change the vibe. What does everyone reccomend? Also what are some major tips in a psychedelic mind state/advice you would give.
Thanks in advance

Tripping alone in your room is just dandy. IF everything is good there... you can venture out to the rest of your house and even walk around the neighborhood. If you like the trip that mushroom provides you can then take it out into nature or anywhere else. Just try not to drive.
Trip sitters aren't necessary unless you take an eighth of some really bad mushrooms but even then... If you just lock yourself in your room you'll get over it yourself.
Set and setting doesn't really matter as, imho, it all has to do with the potency of the mushrooms. You can have weak or strong mushrooms. On weak shrooms, it doesnt matter, no setting could make it a good time.

Seriously?? How can you say set and setting doesn't matter??
If you have weak mushrooms, you may only need to take more to get the desired effect.
OP, find a place you are familar with and trip. If you are uncomfortable in your surroundings, it is very likely you may have a bad trip or bad time. Same goes for your set. If you feel anxious or unsettled, the trip may not go like you want.
Saying "any set and setting is ok, depends on the strength of your mushrooms" is rediculous, IMHO.

Yeah I agree, that doesn't make sense at all.
Set and setting are very important, don't you always read and hear that? It's true. I think mindset is maybe even more important than physical location in many cases, but then again there are many places you wouldn't want to be while tripping. Like in a police car or jail! Or, talking to your grandparents, talking to your boss, etc.
If you're really planning on doing a large dose and venturing inward, you should probably just do it at home, alone or with somebody who cares and understands what you're planning on doing and will not disturb you. In bed in the dark, close your eyes and ride it out. Seems safest.
A personal favorite setting to trip, and I'm sure others will agree, is on a camping trip. I've spent quite a few days and nights in a tent, on an air mattress, tripping hard. This would be better for a group or a small festival with camping. It's comforting knowing that there are people around. At a festival it is great to lie down in your tent and let the trip take over, hearing music and voices around is somehow grounding and seems to add to the experience in a weird way. I've had some of my best trips in tents, and around them

I think a solo trip in a nice quiet room is a good scenario for a deep "mind expanding" kind of trip. I usually sit in bed and listen to (carefully chosen) music on headphones....and write in a trip journal. No trip sitter.
The best mindset..... just try to ride the trip, without any preconceived ideas of what's supposed to be happening. It can be a bit like being on that boat in "Apocalypse Now", gradually going deeper and more insane inside the jungles of your mind.
This was one attempt in a trip journal of mine to "describe the experience":
Quote:
You need to take a lot and then you close your eyes and see fractal patterns - for example cylinders filled with light. If you look at them closely, they show the same scene repeated endlessly. Probably it's dark and fluorescent and confusing and I like it when I remember I'm not ill and I'm not dying from it. Then you go completely fucking crazy and really start to wish you were dead. Then you start to enjoy yourself, because you have completely forgotten the whole concept of being a person in the world. You are pure experience, brutal, beautiful, unforgettable
Some of that refers to the harshness of parts of the trip, and the way that it can transition from fear to complete bliss. So that's one thing to remember - if the trip feels horribly wrong, like something nobody in their right mind would want to be experiencing, it's OK, it's all part of the journey, surrender to it...the usual advice does actually make sense. Don't take the trip too seriously.

There's also the sense that the CEV are becoming more and more of an "innerspace", a visual field opening up with a tremendous depth, a sense almost of dizziness that if you close your eyes you will fall into your CEV. It can be uncomfortable to feel that the trip is pushing you to the edge of this precipice inside your mind....but it's better to dive in if you can (like dropping into a dream state within your CEV for a short time before snapping back to reality).
Quote:
(From a trip journal) - A large dose of psilocin feels like an allergic reaction to reality
I'm not really sure what you expect from an "OBE" on shrooms.... I can see how that term would apply to a salvia trip, but not shrooms so much. I feel as though a solid shroom trip creates this feeling of unreality where the OEV can be subtle, but you soon realize that everything is becoming deeply unreal, and looks unreal, that your frame of reference of being a mind inside a body inside a room no longer makes conceptual sense, that you are drifting and everything is drifting with you....and the numbers appearing in the walls are telling you that this is not reality.

There's also the possibility of delusions....I always get delusions of one sort or another at higher doses. Consider a couple more trip journal paragraphs:
Quote:
To transcend your mind and your species and your reality. This is the message that lies here. This is the future. This is what I am telling you. Your death is just a new life. You are nothing. Whatever exists, exists within and without you and you should accept it and not fear it....
I see the world. This is my hallucination. This is the hallucination I craved so much that it settled around me and my solipsism is my psychosis and I am your God and your matter is the slowly cooling material of my dreams....
That's a trip which has gone from a feeling of unreality (a type of dissociation) into a delusional state in which everything is a portent, death is insignificant, and the random fragments of the trip fuse into some crazed delusional superstructure. The sense of unreality slides into solipsism and then mania.....I created this, I am God.

It's a weird headspace - in that quoted paragraph I'm calling myself God, but at the same time aware of being delusional (and able to write coherent sentences). That's something to be aware of on high doses - the level of insanity can become palpable, you can feel it building, but its something you can manage if you get into the habit of keeping your thoughts to yourself...and your trip journal. It's also quite funny to be honest.
It's a phenomenal experience at high doses, it can really feel like you finally understand everything, are able to feel the vast power of the universe cascading through your consciousness....but don't try to cling onto this as the trip winds down, otherwise you tie yourself in knots trying to justify the delusions of your trips. Keep an open mind during the trip, and after.
Whatever you do, don't underestimate the raw power of psilocybin, it can be absolutely ferocious - something that can feel hostile but is ultimately positive. Remember that the trip is your own mind; you are experiencing yourself in a novel way. It's not so much that you are "out of body" - you no longer recognize the inside of your own mind.

Best place is tripping alone in the middle of a quiet forest on a nice summer day/night.
Your set should be clear-minded, calm and content.

Best set and setting is my backyard in the summertime. But what you want is a safe place, free of unexpected intrusions (you won't be able to handle that if you're that far gone), no possibility of interruption, time set aside to just do this thing, and no worries. Whatever's in your set that needs work try to do it before hand or you can find it coming at you multiplied manyfold and that can be problematic.
Dunno about OBE's, I've had those straight but rarely with mushrooms. Mushrooms are more a reality intensifier and emotional amplifier, IME.
