That looks like a Russula sp. If the gills are brittle and snap then that will confirm it.

Negative.  Pluteus salicinus would have a pink spore print.

That yellow print tell me that it's not a Pluteus. If you want a more specific ID, wait for a TI to give you his opinion. Pluteus will always have pink to salmon-pink gills and a matching spore print (pink to salmon-pink).

Probably a Lactarius sp due to the yellow print.

It's definitely one of the two genus', Russula or Lactarius.

In any case, it's definitely NOT a Pluteus species haha

I'm a bit rusty so I bet you are right.  I just don't see too many Russula with yellow spore prints around here, so I thought Lactarius.

But you're probably right lol

I know that rusty feeling quite well cause I'm going thru it a little myself. It's like you have to reset your brain to try and remember all the little details again.

Indeed. Plus, I am out of town and have none of my books so it makes it a bigger hassle to use the web for keys and other info.

I'm starting to doubt my ability to give many good ID's lol

I'm sure it'll all come back to me...a good walk through the woods should help.
