My MF plants are a few years old, at least 3 but I have forgotten exactly. They never set fruit before now. This pic is of a plant that was overgrown by other plants and is in deep shade. The ones getting more light but not direct sun never set any fruit. Has anyone else had success with it and did your berries sprout?

For those who are not familiar with miracle fruit, it has an interesting property. When you eat one of the fruits, everything tastes good for a few hours after. You can eat a lemon and it will taste sweet.
No one else is growing them?

I want to get a miracle berry plant. I've never tried them, but I've been wanting too for a while. They're just so expensive to buy the berries.
What kind of climate do they like?

They are a tropical plant. I plant to plant the berries I have. I'll probably taste one first.

That's awesome, congrats! I've had a few throughout the years and killed them. Never got berries... They are a bit tricky to get the PH just right and cannot accept tap water whatsoever. Definitely don't let your mother in law watch them!
I just bought a new 6 year old plant last week at a local nursery. It is full of buds right now. Hoping I'll get some berries this time around. Did you do anything special? Any fertilizers or anything?

This is Definitely a Tropical plant so it's not easy to Grow in the U.S. but it can be done.
I lived in Asia for a year, i was out one day and a women was pedaling a bike and cart on the street full of plants. So i stopped her, i had already been familiar with the plant, so when i saw it on her cart i bought it instantly, and bought a Jasmine too.
The Plant was really healthy had like 20 berries on it, the dirt mixture seemed very lite, it was wrapped in plastic and placed in a weaved pot, the drainage was good but too much i think.
I hope to grow a nice one here in the US i very happy for you for having that plant, not many know of it.
Oh and when you eat it, whatever is in the fruit basically is covers your tastes buds, and acts kinda like an inhibitor on all of your taste buds except sweetness.

Yeah, I've got two of them actually. Started them from seed back in the spring. I had them both inside under a tube light setup and they were doing fine. Maybe growing about the same rate as a novo baby.
I put one of mine outside a few weeks ago to see if the natural light would help it any. At first I put it where it got full sun for about 4 or so hours in the morning and then shade the rest of the day and it became stunted and stopped growing and actually was looking pretty sad. Then I moved it to a shaded location on the porch where it only gets maybe an hour or two of direct sun the very first thing in the morning. At first it was stunted and didn't grow for about a week and the indoor plant grew a bit larger than the other, but now the outdoor one has caught up and is about to outgrow the indoor one.
It definitely likes the shade.
From my research, it likes it to be hot, but shaded... Kinda like novo, I guess, but it just likes the heat a little better...
Not sure I'm the authority on the subject, mine only have about 7 leaves on them and are only months old, but hey - they are growing...
Yours look great Did you start yours from seed/berries?
