For you to purchase in whatever country you could legally buy them in. A lot more than that. A lot more. 15 oz? is 425 grams mang.

He doesn't have that much though. I believe he only put 150 grams in the car. Had 300grams initially and lost some to mold already.

I just want to know what they sell four in the countries their legal in....I DONT WANT ANY ORE TO GROW THEM... i just wonderd what they typically cost

It's not hard to find the prices of truffles, just remember shipping, bank fees.
You can easily figure it out by yourself, and they are going up in price daily as some of the bags get air in and get moldy

Can you possibly clone them and learn to grow your own? Check up on it. That would be a sensible way to not waste them. I'm sure there are agar tecniques that will allow you to cultivate those truffle forming strains. You can find the info no where better than right here at The Shroomery.

For sure, i got 12 of the packages drying, i ate one this afternoon, got a level two trip out of it.

Im looking for a level 4, so lets say 30g on friday is that too soon? I wanted to experiment see how it was, if it really meant 15g fresh= 1.5-2g dry cubes.I would say what I felt was similar to 2g of cubes.

These fresh sclerotia go dark after they hit oxygen from vacuum sealed packages right? They got dark quick after opening them

I have some syrian rue seeds i ordered months ago, if I find them, would they be any help, lets say put them in gelcaps and take 1-2g?

In my experience, drying truffles is way more about airflow and less about heat. Sure, a little bit of heat can help speed things up. But ultimately, it's airflow you really want.

Drying them is as simple laying them out on some kitchen roll or news papers and letting a fan blow over them. If you have big truffles, cut them in half. Smaller pieces dry way faster. After two or three days they should be notably drier and a lot less likely to deteriorate and rot. The truffles life expectancy just went from days or weeks to months.

Then it's off to the final step to crackerize them. Toss them in a desiccant chamber. That's a difficult word for an airtight jar with some silica gel or damp rid, where the last bit of moisture will be pulled out. Make sure the truffles don't touch the desiccant. They aren't all poisenous, but eh, better safe than sorry, right? If you're really paranoid about it, you could use salt or rice as a desiccant, but it's really not as effective and I don't recommend it. With this last step, you prolonged your precious stones' life even further, from months to possibly years.

Eating them could be a bit more challenging now, as they are rock hard. But as I see it, eating truffles is a challenge anyway. Always makes me gag. You could make tea out of them, but I just stick them in my mouth for a bit, let them rehydrate with saliva (yum) and as soon as it gets softer, start chewing. Start chewing real good. Start chewin', boy. All aboard the chew train. Chew chew! It will eventually turn into mush.

As for dosage: I always calculate a dry dose as a third of what you'd take fresh.

Hope I was of some help and saved you some of your stones. Really, it doesn't have to be more complicated than this.

Why not just put mushrooms on a screen of some kind, then get one of those mini heaters(small box with a fan that also heats) and put it about 6 inches away from the mushrooms on the screen? That's essentially all a dehydrator is.

Interesting to hear about the potency.... sounds similar to what you might expect from average "Atlantis" in a Dutch Smartshop.

What's that, a 3 or 4 day gap? A week is better, but I think your tolerance would be fairly low considering the trip was a mild one......if Friday is the most convenient day to trip, I'd say go for it....especially if you still have some bags in the fridge.

I think that's normal.

The rue thing....no personal experience....it would boost the trip but I would be cautious and read up on it carefully before you try it. See for example http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21937309 for a few comments on this combo.

ok...so with PE especially...ill weigh out 30g fresh. After the 30g is totally cracker dry, instead of it weighing 3 grams, it weighs about 2.4 grams.

This is consistently happening. The only strain that was actually 90% water, no more, was B+.

So I have a theory that when people are eating wet mushrooms and say theyre strain was a little weak, its not the mushrooms fault.

Just to add my 2cents here...

I read in a RR thread ages ago that truffles dry just fine in a paper bag in the fridge. That has been my experience as well.

If I leave them in the growth jar they last AGES.  Currently have 14 month old grow doing just fine.

If I havest and put them in a tupperware or similar sealed container they stay pretty fresh for a long time.

If I harvest and put them in a brown paper bag and staple it closed and put it in the fridge, they dry rock hard within a couple of weeks. I go shake them up a bit every few days to keep turning the "pile" of stones.

I traditionally use a dehydrator for shrooms, but I bag-fridge dry truffles and it works great.

What do you do with them when you want to eat them? Grind them up?

Yikes....I'm guessing those will be fairly potent....like a jar full of madness :owl:

Yes. I store the dried stones whole in small mason jars, using a vacuum sealer to suck out the air down to about 25psi. I also throw a desiccant pack or two in there, and store the jar in a cool dark place. Theoretically they should last for a very very long time with no real decrease in potency, especially since so much of the mass of the whole stones are totally isolated from oxygen, humidity, and light.

Then for dosing, I weigh them whole and throw them in a coffee grinder and grind to dust.  You can make tea that way or just add the powder to OJ or yogurt or chocolates.

 Jury is still out.  I haven't tested them since 9 months and they were plenty potent then.  Opening the jar at 14 vs 9 was no different. Very healthy and strong sclerotia smell.

Soooooon.
