If a rich guy asked you to pay for him at a high end restaurant what would you say?

He's publicly rich
He forgot his wallet
It was supposed to be his treat
The waiter is waiting
He tell you to cover this and he'll pay you back
Me gusta? No me gusta?

I'd be like "I left my wallet in the car lemme go get it" and then disappear.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. I would suck off the waiter, and make him pay.

I don't think a single person that has said "I'll pay you back" has ever given me so much as a dime.
If anything at this point I just equate "I'll pay you back" to "I'm an asshole but don't want it to seem that way".

If I was dining with him, I would pay the bill. I know him at this point enough to hunt down the money like I would with anyone else, should it come to that.
If it was some random stranger, go home and get your wallet dude, if youre as rich as you say you are the restaurant can take the risk in trusting you.

Yeah, but that's because people who borrow money are usually broke as fuck.

How much money he has is irrelevant. If my poor friend asked to get lunch for me but forgot his wallet, I would still buy. Why would it matter if hes rich? Does he have infinite credit with every restaurant in town or something?

It matters because you're at a high-end restaurant. If somebody who was poor insisted we go to some expensive restaurant and then "forgot" his wallet, I would question whether he even truly forgot his wallet or if he was just using me as his meal ticket. I had one former friend actually try and pull that shit on me more than once, he did it to all his friends in fact.
I wouldn't think anything about paying if we were at some average cheap place, some place like TGI Friday's or Applebee's or whatever… but the thread specifies that you're at a high-end restaurant.

The only relevance I can come up with is that a poor friend would be unlikely to invite you to a high end restaurant unless he just wasn't planning on paying to begin with or something. If the dude's rich it's likely he actually did intend to pay.

I had a girlfriend in the past who paid for a random ladys bill at a vegas restaurant we were at. The lady was at the register explaining that she didnt have money much like the original scenario of the first post.
She shelled out $100 for this lady, who then picked up her purse and walked out without even a thank you. the silver lining I guess is that my now ex girlfriend makes a lot of money, so maybe karma gave her the payback she deserves. Honestly, i wouldve told that lady tough luck.

I dunno if I'd agree with that. A lot of people I've known to borrow money (not just from me, in general) aren't really broke, they just have their priorities all fucked up. Drugs or cable TV matter more until the rent is due and they realize "oh shit, I'm kinda fucked".

I would think the same thing about a rich person. Rich people do not have stronger morals, FYI. In fact, of all the places Ive tended bar...rich people were actually the most frugal.

I would pay but then I would go home with the rich man and ask if I could come inside to get the cash. He wouldn't know it but I would be scoping out his security systems and were the expensive shit is. That night I would come back and rob him blind fuck the rich snob he made my broke ass pay for his snoob food.

I'd pay in hopes of getting like 10000% profit er something
and then probably get just the right amount and be disappointed and never talk with the guy again

Do you feel entitled to money because you helped somebody out? Its funny because if he were poor, you would feel all rightous for helping out somebody less fortunate...but if he were rich, youd be pissed off because you didnt make any money from the help?

It's true, I agree that rich people for example, are a lot less generous than poor people. Rich people for example, almost never give money to homeless people, while it's the poor people who always give some desperate homeless person $5 or $10.
But, rich people also like to show off their money to people who they are trying to impress. Not being able to pay a bill is considered something very embarrassing in their community. They don't want to encourage rumors that they are filing for bankruptcy and are so up to their knees in debt they couldn't even pay for a simple dinner bill. So, rich people are more likely to offer to pay for the bill when taking out certain types of people, because it makes them look good living that luxurious life.

i wonder what would happen if a poor person was made rich, would their penchant for helping the homeless dwindle?
