Agar: Problems...
    #21957392 - 07/17/15 06:32 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

These were made and inoculated 3 weeks ago. Not seeing what I expected to see.. Frustrating since I have to open the jars to take a picture.
Hardly any growth and I'm getting suspicious of contaminants.
Thoughts?

So it's mycelium, just stressed due to the presence of bacteria?

They all started out with a nice fluffy white looking spot that I thought was mycelium but they have all stalled.
I have 8 more plates that look kind of like this...

They were made in half pint jars with a 1/4" GE hole stuffed with polyfill. You think bacteria is getting through the polyfill maybe?

see the surface of the agar is all weird looking I think bacteria just is overgrown on that plate at least. I would bet it got in when you inoculated with the wedge

unless you stuffed the poly for shit I doubt it's the filter.

Even the ones that were inoculated with a syringe through the filter stalled though. The agar is also soft now.. I think the bacteria has been breaking it down.

So, should I try to make transfers or try again from spore?

What should a clean plate look like after three weeks from a wedge?

After 3 weeks it would be fully colonized. . .

This would be about 3 days

FAK! I guess I wasted 2 weeks on top of it all...

At least I have a tub about to fruit. I'll try some clones once I have pins.

Yeah every plate has bacteria. Just really hard to see.
