Pf tek is easier than grains and can also be used as spawn with results as good as you would have with grains.

True, im doing that now actually because i didnt have much luck with the cakes in the sgfc so spawning it to bulk seems more ideal. i will always remember my first flush from pf tek, some lipa thai yais. i tripped balls in school and gave everyone free mushies in class. everybody was laughing lol :pipesmoke:

Lol, it must have been great, but i wouldn't keep sharing it with people, I know about a guy who got in a lot of trouble for sharing shrooms with his girlfriend after her parents found out.

Seriously though lol. Grains are way easier. No verm needed. No exact measurements of water either. You just hydrate the grain, drain it, drop a wedge in and shake when needed. Colonizes way quicker too and you can do massive jars and bags compared to the tiny 1/2 pints/pints.

Yup! No verm needed, but if you are in a rush and don't have time to let the grains properly drain\steam dry you can toss a spoonful of verm(or dry spent coffee grounds) into a grain jar to fix that.

I'm sure you meant to include sterilize before the wedge drop.

I've never tried grains though. Is it possible to make grains using only polyfill in the lids?

You wont know until you try it man, it is indeed superior, no doubt. I got nearly 2lb fresh from only 2 quarts, and im sure others have had waay more luck too. Give it a try you will not go back to pf tek. Shit sucks to me now imo. i used the pf cakes as spawn hopefully i have a similiar flush :crazy2:

Yes poly works. Not ideal, but if it's stuffed tight af, and you don't gouge it with a needle trying to inoculate through it, you'll be good . I like to open the lid and inoculate.

I've used poly filters for pasty plates without seeing a single contam
on stored, uninoculated plates that are sitting out in the open in my dirty living room for weeks.

As someone who has always used my hands to crumble cakes, I would recommend getting a cheese grater. should be make things wicked easier.

I used a sandwhich bag with a hammer to break it up in the bag then crumbled it with my hands, is that a bad method? I didnt use my cheese grater lol.

The only problem with the PF tek is the ridiculously small amounts of substrate you're making. I think grain spawn would be just tedious if you had to make it all in half-pint jars and they were only filled a 1/3 of the way. That verm is a waste of PC space.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the mushroom only digests the surface of the grain and avoids the center. Wouldn't it be a much better use of the grain if you turned it into powder and mixed it with verm?

How many times more product could get from a half pint full of grains compared to a half pint full of rice flour and verm?
