Out of pure curiosity do you guys grow the blob varieties for a novelty? What is the motivation for wanting a tub like that. It looks truly like a pain in the ass to harvest without fucking the whole substrate up.

Potency? Yield? Phenotype? Please elaborate. I gave up on them about 7 years ago due to all the hassle.....
I found I could attain higher potency, more quantity, and more consistent flushes with other varieties. Maybe I am fucking up though?

Steve, it actually takes no effort at all to harvest those. They come right up with a twist and a mininum pull.
Mike, give those guys a few more days. The caps open early just like pe do. Them little guys have plenty of horizontal space for them to grow. Trust me, you won't regret it. Oh and another tip. Give them a good mist and leave the lid off for 20-45 minutes. If this trick works for you like it does me, you maybe picking some monsters by tomorrow morning. Oh and only pick the ones where the caps start to curl up. Try not to pick any small imature mushrooms, they'll wait for days for you to harvest the other mature mushrooms before they'll ever take off.

Yeah, maybe you can, but with the kind of fruits MikeBearPig is showing (nom'd POTM) I'd expect insane potency. Slow growing and solid.
The KSSS hobbits I grew were out of this world. Wish they had better yield, yes, but the only thing that compares to them is PE IME.

Soon, soon I shall be able to commune with the gods once more. It has been almost 4 years since my last mycology experiment, this has been a long time coming.

I've been misting them twice a day as of right now. I just take out the poly fill the last 2 days of most of my grows. I run a fan in the room also, they get plenty of FAE. I will try your trick tomorrow with leaving the lid off! Do you do it right after misting? Twice a day?
I think you are right about harvesting times though, they do love to keep growing and growing!
Only 1 thing I disagree with, at least with this particular set of genetics. They are a PAIN IN THE ASS TO PICK! I used Jiffy/verm as a casing and it just seems EVERYTHING these guys colonize becomes rock solid.
Also this :
This is in honor of other Sandcastle grows!!!
Yes, count them. 11 qt's of spawn. This is what happens when you do not want to grow a particular strain anymore.
Since this grow was going to me a massive amount of spawn, I decided to go ahead and break up all the spawn and hydrate it for 10 min before putting it into the tub. I have a feeling it is going to need all the extra water it can get.

I saved 1 quart of spawn and broke pieces off of it and mixed it in with my already mixed substrate, ensuring they will colonize before the rest of the tub. If these genetics keep up with what they have been doing, this tub should be colonized in 3 days.
I think I will avoid casing this tub.

This is what this hobby is about, congrats and bravo!
Also, loosen some polyfill!!! They all look like they have fuzzy feet and a bit more FAE during this time is a good thing.
