Should I throw this out?

I read somewhere on here that as long as the fruits look okay, then it's okay to eat.

No. Just build a proper SGFC and mist then fan as needed.

It is a sgfc. You said no. So I should not throw this out?

You may have built a pseudo SGFC but you did not build it to spec. The holes do not look like they are in a 2" × 2" grid pattern. The cake looks dry and unhealthy, as if you mist the crap out of it and then let it dry out too much before another heavy misting.

No. The cake has healthy mushrooms growing on it and I do not see any sign of trich. Can I see a pic of the entire tub, please?

Is there any way for you to quarantine that cake and get it away from all the others if so do that and see what happens but I wouldn't risk spreading contam to any of my other projects just to get a couple more grams of fruit. When in doubt throw it out. That cake proably only cost you a couple bucks if that. the time you loose if contam spreads and anything else gets funky is priceless.

What contam do you see exactly?

Okay. First, you need to build a proper SGFC http://www.mushroomvideos.com/Terrarium-Tek

1/4" holes on all six sides placed in a 2"×2" grid pattern. The perlite should be atleast 4" deep and the fruiting chamber should be elevated and not sitting on a flat surface. Get 4 shot glasses or something similar to sit the tub on.

The link I provided will explain in full detail of the how and why.

I always error to the side of caution. To me that cake looks brown and funky on the top is that normal?

As I said I would quarantine it if it's the only cake in that fruiting chamber you got nothing to loose. Dunk and roll it modify your fruiting chamber as suggested and see what happens.

The mycelium has created a mat around the cake because of the heavy misting  and then drying out, vicious cycle it has been through or it may be bacteria but it's the only one in the fruiting chamber so I doubt it's going to hurt anything. The good news is, the mushrooms look healthy.
