I've been telling peeps here about them every time some asks what music to listen to while tripping. They were a amazing band and I think most of the surviving members (less Dicky Betts) are gonna be at the Peachfest coming up in August in Altoona, Pa.I'm seriously gonna try to go to that!

Are you saying that the band members ingest Psilocybin, or sing about Them, or you just like to listen to the band after you ingest Psilocybin?

They have ingested it, their logo is a large mushroom and often have one on screen behind them when playing.

Love the ABB!
I did a bunch of work for them in the early 90's. I built up their main touring sound board and helped get their sound system ready for tours. I used to get back stage passes whenever they would come to my area. One time I was back stage before a show hanging out with the band like I was one of them. Really nice guys. I remember at the time there was no drinking going on. Cans of soda back stage, no beer or booze. I walked down the hallway and went into the bathroom to take a piss. A second later Greg Allman came in and peed in the urinal right next to me! (something I'll always be proud of.. LOL). When I was in the room with them while they waited to go on stage, I asked them to sign my backstage pass. Greg, Dickey, Warren, and I think even the blind keyboard player signed it.

Awesome story!....Just think....Only you and 10,000 women have seen Greg Allmans dick!lol. I've seen them whenever I could...I got to see them in 2000 right before "The Dicky incident" and they were hitting everything. I've seen them a couple times with Warren and Derek Trucks and they were good ...but just not the same to me...without Dicky. My brother saw them in 1971 at a jam in Pa.with the original lineup, my parents wouldn't let me go ...I was only 13.Still pissed about that ...lol. I've also seen Dicky Betts band "Great Southern" a couple times but Dicky was uneven and drinking heavily both times...All through the set...having to stop and restart a couple times....It's a shame because he is such a talent and such a part of the brothers...Hell, he wrote many of their best songs. But he needs to put the booze down...he is a shell of himself now.
Also, about the mushrooms....In Gregs book "A Cross to Bear"...he spoke about eating some extracted psilocybin in pill form like candy during rehearsals sometimes.....he said that they weren't particular fans of LSD though.

yeah I have to agree. My first mushroom trip was winding down in this small hippy town in the PNW. It was around 3a.m. and I decided to walk back home so I could comfortably crash the fuck out. It seemed like a long walk, like 25 minutes or something, so I put on an allman brothers album and my earphones in and walked home through the dark streets feeling pacific breeze.
jammin. maybe it's why I fancy a night stroll on the mushroom these days

I love the Allmans, but I don't recall ever listening to them while on mushrooms. Not really sure what I'd consider perfect mushroom music, as it's been years since I've eaten them. Last time I ate shrooms was at an EOTO show in January of 2008, before they went all bro-steppy. That was fun. Venue was about a half block from my house in a Colorado mountain town. Dropped about 5 feet of snow that night. Good times. But back to the Allmans.... They were always a booze/blow for me when I was younger. I do remember seeing them after drinking a vial rinse though. That was fun.

Gregg also rolled over on some people in a local pharmacy/cocaine ring. They have a colorful past for sure
