    #21951574 - 07/16/15 11:33 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I got my wisdom teeth pulled out two days ago. 4 teeth removed.

what a fucking unpleasant experience that was. plus, i had it done with a local anesthetic so I was awake for the whole operation.

my jaw is so swollen atm, I look like a fucking chipmunk. thank god for pain killers though

how was your wisdom teeth removal experience? do you plan to get them removed?

Two sessions, 2 teeth each session. Local anaesthetic, second time they ripped a hole in my upper jaw connecting my sinuses to my oral cavity. Got some stitches and some antibiotics.  Pain was very manageable and overall it was just a minor interruption of my normal life. No drama.

My wisdom teeth are coming in and it's painful but they're not affecting my other teeth.

My dentist was still like "Yeah you don't need to have them removed but I'm still gonna remove em when do you want to schedule that" and I just said never and called him an idiot.

The blessings of having properly aligned teeth are great. Never had braces. Don't need muh wisdom teeth  removed. But like one of them made a flap of skin off my gums and I accidentally bite it all the time. Can't wait for them to fully come in so this shit stops. It's not painful so much as it is irritating.

You'll want to have them out when your gums start infecting over and over again.

Live and learn, bud. We all know how to operate a toothbrush at least twice a day. I'm no different.

When the doctor was pulling mine out with the pliers, my head was jerking towards him, so he instructed me to give resistance while he pulled. Then I bleed over everything for a few days. Fucking sucked.

I got 4 removed at once, was under so it wasn't so bad. When I came too I was in the recovery room with some random dude. He looks at me and says "when I get home, I'm gonna do a shitload of COCAINE"
Ok dude, whatever.

I had my wisom teeth pulled last year. All 6 of them (Yes 6... I'm extra wise... and  a mutant apparently)

I was asleep for the operation and I had 0 pain after that. I was up and about 3 hours after the operation with bloody gauze in my mouth. I was completely fine

They prescribed me some oxy mixed with tylenol or something, I didn't need to take a single one. I ended up flushing them

You don't NEED to get your wisdom teeth removed. That's just retarded. Most people think you do because every dentist will suggest it because free money.

The reason the dentist wanted you to pull them was because you have straight teeth. They hate to see good teeth get jacked up, and that's what wisdom teeth will do. They want you to do before insurance runs out for super obvious reasons which benefit both parties.

Not in all cases. But in many cases, they're a huge bother when you're a few years down the road. I hope they won't be for you.

He said I didn't need to get them removed if you read it. They're not affecting any of my other teeth like I said. Your wisdom teeth don't always come in crooked and fuck everything up. Sometimes they come in fine and you don't need to remove them.

He recommended I get them removed because he wants that paycheck, obviously.

My appointment is on the 27th of august. Doctor said I could do it with anesthetic in two times or just go completely under and do it at once.
I've worked in butchery.
I'm imagining steel utensils and a lot of pulling.

*cries softly*

Sometimes they are aligned perfectly but the gums don't open fully and no matter how well you brush and floss, they keep infecting. Happens to a lot of people. I don't care if you believe it.

had 4 pulled recently

looked like a chipmunk with a mouthful of acorns, and was bleeding like someone shot me in the face, but other than that it didn't seem nearly as bad/painful as I thought it would be

shit that night I felt damn near back to normal

but then days turned into weeks and I was still (daily) experiencing this slight to moderate nagging pain

I mean it wasn't severe by any means, but just enough to be annoying as fuck. Lasted for nearly a full month before it finally disappeared for good. All in all though I only took one hydrocodone the entire time post operation.

Yeah I think my sister mentioned this (she's a dental assistant). She said that if you don't follow the rules or some shit post operation, such as smoke after (like right after within a day or two), you can get dry socket, and she was telling me stories where grown men would come back into the place crying. Extreme cases I'm sure, but the way she described it, it sounded fucking nightmarish.
