Even with a multimeter, diagnosing electrical problems.. especially on modern cars can be a bitch and a half

Using multimeters nowadays to diagnose electrical vehicle issues is about as useful as glancing over your engine bay.(slight exaggeration)
Every time I've gone into a dealership garage/shop over the past couple years I've seen insane, dedicated diagnostics computers hooked up to the cars. So many wires and sensors hooked up that it looks like the car is in a hospital bed.
I'd imagine this way of diagnosing makes things a lot easier for mechanics with these computers, but I don't understand how people that are mechanically inclined, but don't own the correct tools treat cars. Everyone I know that leases or bought a car recently rarely even opens the hood. Any little thing that's out of the ordinary, and it's straight to the dealership.
It's becoming a sad era for people with a passion for working on cars.

I think Hyundai went through an even bigger positive transformation over the last 25 years. Both were complete shit in the 90s, but Hyundais were diarrhea.

I own a 2003 Hyundai and fuck that car. It's running now but who knows when it's going to decide to shit out on us again. I even posted about an electrical problem that I nor a shop could figure out, and still never have. They have went over everything on it, twice. I did absolutely everything in my power to track it down as well. It just went away as mysteriously as it appeared.
So all in all, fuck Hyundai and fuck electrical problems.

Hyundai was hit an miss, I know someone that bought one of the first ones and it was a great car for him for 20+ years, Hyundai bought into Kia and the quality of both went up. they're beginning to rank up there with the big boys

just because every technician needs to own a meter, doesnt mean every tech knows how to use a meter.
hell most of them can get to, "does the 'whateverthefuck they are testing have 12v+' yes" and thats were the diagnosis ends.

I see. I was still very young when both makes were originally launched and only remember the coupes that both makes released back then. I was posting based on what I've heard from people that worked in the auto industry at that time so you'd know a lot more about this topic than me.
I believe both are excellent cars for the money nowadays. My ex bought a Kia Forte the month it was launched roughly 4 years ago. That little car really impressed me with its form and function. And I agree, once both makes merged they've been only getting better. I'd probably buy one if I was looking into getting a brand new car. (which I'd never do)
