headlight issues

a quick run down...
2009 Kia Rio LX
last night i noticed my front driver side headlight was out so this morning i swapped bulbs to see if it was a bulb issue or something more.
once i swapped i hit the lights and neither of the lights came on. i swapped bulbs again so they were back in their original places and still no lights.
i went from having 1 good light to 0 good lights. the only thing working up front is the turning signals...
any ideas?
the first initial bulb that was having issues did have a broken connection, but this doesnt explain why both lights no longer work.
just to be clear, high and low do not work on either side, but last night the front passenger low and high did work.

That and there is also a fuse/relay box under the hood so check that too. EDIT google the problem and tou can probably get the diagrams of the fuse boxes on line if they are not on the box covers. Did you try the high beams?

i couldnt find any related fuses to the HLs in the fuse box under the hood, and the fuse in the box under the dash seemed fine, but who knows...

Take a multimeter make sure you are getting juice up there. If the cars an 09 i wouldnt think it to be a bad wire..... So the car starts and runs fine? This is a dumb question but just asking is your battery dead? Have you recently replaced the bulb fixtures or messed with any wiring or connects that deal with the headlight? Were you careful not to touch the bulbs when you put them in. I use gloves cuz i heard that the oil and shit from your hands can fuck em up.

Just start at the bulb and see if the highbeams work then check the wires and conectors and work backwards from there. It's kind of hard to diagnose a car problem on a forum So if you get stuck post what you have done up to that point and there are enough car people here that they can probably point you in the right direction.

everything else is working fine on the car. i can hook my meter up and see if im getting proper voltage.
i have not messed with the lights at all until this morning, but i was not careful while touching the bulbs themselves. didnt thinking about the oils and dirt...
wouldnt the other 2 bulbs work though? there are 2 main bulbs on each side. the passenger side had both bulbs working before i swapped them. now, nothing...

Replace both bulbs. Often if one goes, the other follows soon after especially if it's subjected to mechanical stress (taking it out and putting it back in e.g.). Odds are everything will be fine. Measure the filaments on the bulbs if you want to be certain they're broken.

If you put bare fingers on the halogen bulbs, you probably blew the one that was working....get 2 new bulbs and use cotton gloves or hold with a paper towel to install...do not touch the bulbs.

It finally happened! OP is Michelle Depamma!

If you need context, this is OP:
Always keep an eye on your headlight fluid, kids. This is some serious shit.

You're not supposed to use bare hands, your skin oil fucks up the bulbs. Not sure if that's the issue but yeah. Always wear gloves.
