Folks, hi. I'm a nature writer doing a small article on wild mushrooms of western Massachusetts. I have one photo of a mushroom that was growing in a local municipal park. But I have only this shot and no spore print or any shots from other angles. I'm hoping it is so common that it will be easy to ID. It was growing in mid-July. Any guesses?
Thanks in advance.

Could you perhaps describe the underside of the cap? Gills or pores, and color of these? Texture, flesh color, color changes, odor?
You'll also get more and better opinions if you upload the picture directly to the site.

Unfortunately, I only have this one picture. I can't tell you anything more about the mushroom. As for the PDF of the mushroom, when I created the post, the only option it seemed to give me was to post a pdf. Jpgs were not accepted formats. I would be glad to post it if I knew how. I'm a first timer on the site. Thanks

lets hope you get an honorable mention!
and hopefully OP will post a link regardless of whether Dr.G gets his laurels
considering the Dr part of his moniker impresses me for sure! it could add weighty weight to the article's credentials n whatnot
oh, and props to OP too for wanting to get it right
