Strange coloured spots on T. bridgesii monstrosa
    #21948535 - 07/15/15 05:36 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Greetings,

After some time of lurking, this is my first post on this board!

So, I am taking care of a young T. bridgesii var. monstrosa and it did quite well until i noticed some strange looking spots on its' skin. It looks like it's turning blue/purple in some areas and gets a very light green or brownish colour in others. This makes me worry and I have absolutely no idea what that could be.

The cactus is planted in fresh soil that contains all the minerals a cactus needs. I repoted it about 2 months ago, so I don't think that it needs any fertilizer yet.

It gets destillated water every 14 days and stands right in front of a window where it gets 5-6 hours of direct, and the rest of the day indirect sunlight.

I have no clue, what those coulours could mean...
Does anyone have an idea?

Thank You!!!

Welcome Funny_fungus

Seems weird, sometimes this kind of cactus develops some black spots, but this is kinda different. i hope for you that is just some corking ( it's omething that happens mostly to the base, when it does lignificate a bit) .

Seems that you are keeping it in optimal conditions anyway ( when you say soil has minerals, you mean inerts? )

does is feel more soft than normal? does it feel harder maybe?

Anyhow, wonderful exemplar, sure is a monstrose, but has some traits that remind me Bridgesii Melted Wax

Keep an eye on it and wait for other to chime in!

Hey!

Thank you for the quick reply Lemnaminor!

I touched it and couldn't find any soft spots.
Feels quite normal.

It looks fine. Ive got a bridgesii that exhibits crazy colors. It gets purple, red, brown and black. Those pics look normal.
