What do you mean by better yields? This is a noob question but can it actually effect mushroom fruit body yields if the rye or cake gets a small contam or would it just destroy entire jar/cake? Thanks so much for your experience and knowledge by the way Spacechildo, you've made my life and many others lives better and you've probably saved thousands of jars from people that are noobs like me. Seriously thank you so much I truly appreciate your knowledge. -John

it depends on what you have, in most cases its toast, but fruits will still grow in the disaster of a tub. bacteria can go unseen but seriously lower yields.
you should definitely continue using agar, just do it more like RR does it.

Seriously recommend you read my tek in my signature called improve your sterile techniques. It's a bit long, but I swear to god you'll come out knowing way more. I also seriously recommend no more overgrown plates. At least not until you've mastered transferring. Especially no overgrown plates on first transfer

Did you post pictures of the plates you made transfers to?
I only remember talking about the ones that had bacteria on them and then a later post with what seemed like the same plates after they'd been transferred from. We're those the plates used to inoculate these jars
