Will repeated dunking before pinning ruin mycellium potential?

Third time growing, but this is my time using a shotgun chamber and i'm having issues. After three rounds of no pins, little bit of fuzz, perlite drying out and the cakes getting too light in weight for no pins, I believe I figured out my problem was how I had it propped up from the floor and not enough air was coming in from the bottom.
My question is if this re-dunking process before pinning is it going to ruin my cakes and/or ruin the potential growth?

Something else is wrong. If the don't pin ever after three attempts, it is not the dunk that is the issue. I have fruited cakes as a center piece on my kitchen table with no FC at all.

Sometimes the perlite clogs the holes of the SGFC ...stick something sterile through the holes (I use a small screwdriver that a cleaned with ISO)...Make sure when you dunk, you weight down the cake...this helps it absorb the water. If the cake is fully colonized and the surface is clean...it usually survives the dunk just fine

Dunk it in a clean container with a lid...cold tap water works well IME

Give some more info...are you using 3-4 inches of perlite (rinsed and drained wel)...in your SGFC ?...is it at least propped up a foot or so off your table...If your perlite dries out (shouldn't happen often) spray it with your mist bottle... It should already be catching overspray when you mist your cakes My bad for the triple post...In the middle of something... Didn't pay attention... Lesson learned... Won't happen again
