Is this bin ready to fruit?
    #21947349 - 07/15/15 01:17 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Coir/verm mixed with 3 4oz jars of myc. Been colonizing for a little over 2 weeks. Does it look ready to fruit?

Also, i have a large SGFC ill be using to fruit. Should i just pop the lid and set it in there? Or should i plop the whole 'cake' out onto some aluminum foil?

Ive been keeping aluminum foil taped up to the sides and bottom to avoid side pinning.

Should I wait for pins to form on the surface before popping the lid? The lid hasn't been opened since I mixed the batch in a clean closet. I don't want to open the lid premature and let in contams. Ive never had a grow where my myc was 100% white from start of fruit to finish

2nd picture I see green. No good.

I would advise against fruiting because you don't have a liner and it's not 100%. If you had a liner it would be a different story

Theres alot going on here.
For starters, you're not supposed to have your liner taped to the container:facepalm:
Its supposed to shrink with the substrate. But that's for monotubs and stuff. You are doing cakes.

I'd take the liner off when you put it in your SGFC.

Also, why is there a bare ass in that pic?

Theres no green, trust me it must be lighting or something. Its absolutely white all over besides the darkness of the coir/verm mix.

So do you guys think its ready for fruiting as a cake or is it not complete?

and cuz she was standing in the picture anyways lol.

Hold on......
I just took a second look at the pictures.....
Did you have that foil taped on the OUTSIDE of that container to serve as a liner?
Don't use foil as a liner anyway. Trash bag works just as well, probably better

IN the container? No. Just lay it on foil or something, and on a bed of perlite.

Don't make it harder than it needs to be

Isn't a cake just a mix of mycelium infested substrate? Sorry for the noob question, couldn't find this anywhere.

I would say the word "infested" shouldn't be used to describe mycelium here. But yes.

Ok, so everyone agrees she looks ready for fruiting?

I keep noticing something new every time I look at the OP.
Did you have a bunch of holes stuffed with poly all over that bowl:confused:

Yes, theres holes with poly in it to let air in. explain the cons to this? I've actually got other bowls like this one but instead of poly fill I got athletic tape and used it instead

I skimmed the op but it looks like there is a big boil on your girlfriends back I'd get that checked out.

On your next one I would put a liner on the inside (apparantly light has little to do with side pinning) and maybe put one small hole in the top with poly for GE.
