Obama looks enlightened to me

I was watching the TV for the first time in ages today, and Obama came on about the deal with Iran, and I looked into his eyes and immediately recognised the Self, the sort of faint non-linear trajectory, the glaze of enlightenment. It was kind of wonderful, to know pretty much (still) the world's most prominent and important leader is in touch with the Reality. I mean I'm not saying he's a saint, he is just another of the intelligentsia in the West that know we are all one.

I don't know, man...
His administration has slaughtered countless innocents on account of their redefinition of the term "militant" (it now is "any military aged male in a strike zone"
that's not something any enlightened person would allow, imo
redefining terms like that to erode the boundaries of what the ruled find acceptable is as close to evil as you can get

Well, when I look into his eyes, I sees this...

yeah makes very good points, and I would like to add that if one pays a little attention, one begins to appreciate how much of an ego-maniac Obama really is. The guy is extremely self-righteous and arrogant. I don't think that fits too well into any ideas I've ever heard of pertaining to enlightenment. I think yeah's points damn him quite a bit farther than that. Perhaps there just isn't enough exposure in Australia for you to have known all this.

I am an Obama fan. I voted for im twice. In fact, he flirted with my wife from his SUV when he was campaigning the first time. A woman stopped her vehicle, jumped out, and upbraided her for flirting with HIM! "He's a happily married man" the woman exclaimed. Rose was thrilled just to have seen him up close after the event. That's my Obama story. But he is first and foremost, Commander-- in Chief of our armed forces. He sits in the #1 seat of American power and commands the world's most powerful military, with all the responsibility that entails. He is a brilliant man, a scholar of Constitutional Law, a Harvard graduate, a former head of the Harvard Law Review and as close to a philosopher-king a la Plato's Republic that we can get. But I think that it is a projection to assume that he is Enlightened in a sense other than those thinkers who belong to the historical Enlightenment or Age of Reason which produced the likes of Sir Isaac Newton, Voltaire, Diderot, Kierkegaard, Thomas Jefferson (and the other Founding Fathers of the USA). Obama is an intellectually enlightened political philosopher and American President. He is much closer to JFK than the Democrat Clinton (who was a Rhodes scholar and also brilliant) was. Clinton was pragmatic but not a visionary leader. I doubt the likes of a President of equal or greater caliber as Obama will be seen by me again in my lifetime.

After hearing the podcast interview with Marc Maron I have a new found respect for Obama. I think he is a pragmatist - I think you need to be to have his job. Most people don't understand how little power the President has. He's getting tugged from so many directions. Middle management. I think he could have done better with the War on Drugs, whistblowers, drones, etc... but who knows who has a gun to his head.

Yes the president does has little of power, but he also has been approving all sort of bills that helps the corporations without informing the public beforehand. I didn't like the idea when he was campaigning for presidential office; that he was trying to portray himself as Lincoln even down to swearing in office with the same Bible that Lincoln has been sworn into office with. But one thing is that Lincoln had never went back on his word; when he set out to do something, he head in that direction until he has accomplished his promise as the way Jesus has done. But Obama has broken the promise of the people, but kept the promise for the corporate giants and which Lincoln will not do, even if his life is on the line.

You're high as shit. He's the spokespuppet for a gang of killers thieves and liars. Do you know what it takes to rise out of the primordial soup of Chicago politics? Nothing that represents me, that's for damn sure.

Most accurate post in the thread yet. Believe it, it's true. One doesn't get to be in his position (as dNa said, especially coming out of Chicago!) without making a lot of compromises, primarily that of whatever integrity you may have started out with. Just look into arms trading. That should get you started. :/

Not sure how you're defining enlightenment, circastes. I suppose he is enlightened when it comes to the art of lying and manipulating on a massive scale.

Circastes i can see the Self in the eyes of a cartoon character or any being alive, it doesn't mean they're enlightened
In my opinion it says more about your view than his

+1
also, that look you describe circastes, may probably be something they teach in NLP or hypnosis.
So, he may have some higher circuits activated or something, which would make sense considering the position of power he is in.
non-linear perception however, is not enlightenment..probably just the beginning.

The guy has sent drones to assassinate American citizens without due process, bombed wedding parties and then bombed the paramedics as they tried to come in to save people (a tactic the military euphemistically refers to as "double taps"), trained and armed militants in Syria that then turned on us and became ISIS, continued the policy of corporate bailouts, and is now about to sell the working class down the river once again with the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement. I voted for Obama in 2008, and in that time he has taught me a most valuable lesson: No politician is to be trusted. But even more enlightening for me has been the realization that it's not really the politicians themselves. A politician may have the best of intentions, but they have a vital role to play in a socioeconomic system that demands exploitation, war, and plunder. They must act within the parameters of that system, whose very logic demands continuous expansion. If they act against that system, that system has ways of containing them and minimizing their impact. We cannot vote our way out of this destructive system. We have to build something entirely new.

Good actually. I enjoy life a lot more now. Still fatigued a little (I had a TBI I don't know if you've been following), but the schizophrenia is nowhere to be found. Really cashing in on this expanded perception I think mushrooms gave me. I go for long drives and just appreciate the sheer beauty of life. Once my brain totally heals and I get my full emotional spectrum back I think I'll be rockin' day in day out. I feel like I've set my life up by 'cleansing the doors of perception' or whatever, or achieving some kind of higher level of consciousness, as if reality had levels. I think its in higher levels of consciousness that the good life is to be found.
