Do sounds you can't hear still vibrate the eardrum?

If they do why can't we hear them? Same thing with eyes but with light? Do these things get picked up by the brain and filtered out because they would harm survival in the long run or does the brain not perceive them as happening at all>?

It depends. Technically if a drum is vibrating even a little then you have to hear the sound if you're young, in good health and in complete silence.

Once the drum vibrates the nerve next to it pulses, so if the nerve is damaged from old age or disease the drum will vibrate and you won't hear the sound. Or the drum itself gets less flexible the more you age, so it will vibrate less. Or sometimes the sound it produces is just too weak compared to the sound of your heart for example.

Our eyes usually no, retina has a resolution, you can't just stimulate one cell on the retina and see it. Also visuals are processed in much higher cognition then sound so it's debatable on what we could see or what's being filtered in/out. A lot of the stuff we see is actually assumed by the brain. Like reading the word "lvoe" if you look fast you see "love". So it's harder to say exactly whats there and what's put in by your brain.
