Thats actually a really interesting point! I am totally one of those guys who would die in a week in an apocalypse. If I dont eat aggressively I shed like six pounds a day. I never thought of it that way.

I am inferior! I praise my obese overlords! Sire my children! I desire your superior obese genetics for my children, so that they might survive the coming doom.

Improving your own body is itself morally good or neutral.

nah. it's not useful to anyone but you, so how is it useful given the moral's behind you being so selfish as to not give back to our society in the time you take to shed some calories. :archiebunker:

but what incentive do they have to do it?  there life already sucks, and then they are discriminated against by fat shamers which segrates them from society.  At that point they have no reason to improve their image as they feel they will never fit in.

Its pretty simple, when you have only 1 thing in life that you enjoy, how the fuck are you supposed to take that away from them, and then to shame them for not doing it.  Every single time you shame one of them, or encourage it, all your doing is making the problem worse.

Lets go shame women for being raped, that will do them some good!

Working out in no way means you aren`t contributing to society in other ways. Being fat means being a drain on society , being fit means being less of a drain on society and more able to contribute.

Here are estimates on what obesity actually costs the US.

$190 billion -- That's the amount of added medical costs every year that are estimated to stem from obesity-related problems. It’s nearly 21% of total U.S. health care costs.

105% -- According to a study conducted by the Brookings Institution, this is the increased amount that obese Americans pay for prescription drugs compared to individuals who aren't obese.

$3.4 billion -- Cars are burning around 938 million gallons of gasoline per year more than they would if Americans weighed what they did in 1960.

$164 billion -- The Society of Actuaries estimates that U.S. employers are losing this amount in productivity each year due to obesity-related issues with employees.

$6.4 billion -- Every year, this amount is estimated to be lost due to employee absenteeism related to obesity.

$1 billion -- U.S. airlines are consuming an extra 350 million gallons of fuel per year due to overweight passengers.

$14.3 billion -- This is how much childhood obesity costs the U.S. each year, according to a published study from the Brookings Institution.

$62 billion -- Medicare and Medicaid are spending nearly this amount every year on obesity-related costs.

$66 billion -- Columbia University researchers say that if current trends don't change, annul obesity-related medical costs in the U.S. could increase this amount by 2030.

$580 billion -- The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation predicts that annual economic productivity loss due to obesity could hit this staggering amount by 2030 unless the current situation changes.

You're a troll and all, but that's exactly what this is all about.

Addiction to food. Arguably the largest most widespread addiction epidemic currently going on.

Exactly. Just like smoking and alcoholism, obesity is a personal choice based on hedonism, nihilism and gluttony that carries an immense social cost and is thus morally perverse.

morally your selfish care for your personal preference to your body type is bereft of any contribution to society, just like those who are fat, you should be contributing as in ACTUALLY contributing. get to work, no more personal choices for you, son.

im a troll?  i thought trolls didn't make good points, infact i thought they didn't make any at all.

instead of trying to generalize me and put me in a group of people, purhaps you should take a deep breath and realize alot of what im saying makes some sense, and admit you just don't agree or want to agree because you're skinny shamer and don't want to lose your rights to crack jokes about them.

See i think its YOU who is a troll, its like gay's, you have to be nice to them now, i think that pisses you off, you miss being able to call people fags and queers, because you're a troll.

If you could choose a society of 100 people to found a human colony on a new planet, would you choose 100 obese people, or 100 fit and strong and healthy people?

Obviously you would choose 100 fit and strong and healthy people, and zero obese people, all else being equal, and this is exactly why being fat is morally wrong and being fit is morally good= being fit is good for society, and being fat is bad for it.

Being fit means the abiliity to exercise discipline, self control, effort and other desirable qualities.

Being obese means being gluttonous, lazy, indulgent, foolish and other undesirable qualities.

Therefore being fit is morally desirable and being obese is morally perverse.

that's exactly why it's moral, because of some hypothetical new human planet/colony? :lmafo: ok there. maybe you should bring in the Upanishads next.

What?

:wtf:

I think for some people being gay isn't a choice, and for some it is. I myself am a bisexual man, who was not born gay at all, but chose to experiment with homosexuality, while I have a gay best friend who was born gay, and had a gay lover (my first true love) who was born gay.

Some people are born gay, some people choose to be gay, and some people are forced into homosexuality by circumstances, while others are encouraged or discouraged from homosexuality by society... for everyone both genetic and environmental circumstances play a role in sexual orientation. Nature and nurture are always both factors.

But what does this have to do with obesity?

The example demonstrates that being fat is bad for society, and being fit is good for society, and what is good for society is generally considered moral (volunteerism, charity) while what is bad for society is generally considered immoral (rape, murder, theft).
